I agree looks like a service nightmare.

No pictures of the redesigned frunk though. I'd like to see how much space is lost. We never got around to fully utilizing the space. We mostly use ours to bring take-out back our house and ice as a gimmick.
Serious question, why take out? Doesn't the food get cold?

lol...yeah, ask those of us with the 2-in-1 laundry machines....My GE is barely a year old, and on it's second HP already....
Thanks for the heads-up. I was wondering about those. Now I can stop wondering and plan to stay with a traditional dryer.

We'll see if it was an anomaly...there have been issues with these things going through HP's early on, but GE supposedly fixed the issue, so I'm not ready to nix it yet. It works great...when it works. ?

Is this, functionally, about what a Tesla Octavalve does?
I was wondering this as well... curious if the weight addition was offset by the slightly smaller extended range battery

Do they take longer to dry?

Yes, maybe 10% longer, not significant. The bigger issue, if speed is your thing, you can't wash another load while the first one is drying, since it's the same machine. But we line-dry most of the time anyway, so it's not a big deal for us. The big advantages are space, no ducting, and no 240V outlet required. Other than the one failed HP(under warranty), I'm very happy with it.

The “octa-valve” is a genuinely clever bit of engineering which simplifies the overall temperature control system. There’s a video about it somewhere.

This is more of a rule for my wife. She doesn't want the inside of her car smelling like food. She keeps a soft sided cooler bag in the frunk and puts the food in there. The frunk is great at keeping food warm as it gets pretty warm. Plus our usual haunts we grab take out are less than 15 minutes from our home.

Personally I don't care so much... I never use the frunk on our Taycan and not once has my wife said it smells like Wing Stop or In-N-Out Burger ? ? ?

My other hesitation is that it’s front-load. I prefer top-load washing machines

This is exactly why I do it. When I put the take out food in the cabin, the smell sticks around for hours. When in the frunk, I never smell it. Perfect.

As someone who lives in Alberta, Canada (annual temperature extremes are between -40C/F and +35C/95F), with a 2023 Mach-E CR1 with no heat pump, I think I'm ok without it. Over 95% of my driving throughout the year will be in temps above -20C/-4F and the car does just fine (with a range hit of course). Just one day this winter it was like -24C/-11F while I was on the highway and the HVAC was struggling to keep the windows not fogged up and the cabin warm. I just know now that if it's friggin' cold, I'll just take the F-150.

I'm not sure if the added complexity of the heat pump is worth it, so I'd definitely be curious to see the difference in power consumption at a variety of outdoor temperatures and vehicle speeds. If it was crazy efficient and used way less power at nearly all speeds and outdoor temps, then I'd be impressed and would change my mind.

Even though these changes can't benefit me and my 22, I'm happy to see that Ford is continuing to improve the Mach-E platform in ways that go beyond decontenting. It shows their commitment to EVs.

Yes this adds complexibility to the car. But if you look at it as a technology development platform that could improve future cars, then I'm happy Ford is spending engineering resources on this.

I think this is a mistake, way too complicated for the Ford service departments. I live in upstate NY and this is my 3rd winter driving all over the state. I just don't find the impact of using my heater to be that great. I did an experiment earlier this week when I had to go in to do a job near Albany. Preconditioned and drove 65 up the Thruway rather than my typical 75ish. Kept the heater on and got 2.0. Turned the heater off and got 1.9 ish. But when I went from 65 to 75 it dropped to 1.7. Temp was a big factor, on the way back it was 10F and I got 2.2 going 75 with the heat on. I would rather have the simplicity of resistive heat over the complexity of the heat pump.
I agree with this. And I drive in northern midwest winters. I would rather have the frunk space of my 23. I enjoy the amazing and fast air con in summers though. Deal breaker.

Do you have the upgrade 7KW PTC heater? wondering how the car is at 100 KMPH or more in -35. Will it heat and maintain cab temp to at least 20 degrees C? I have a 2022 and the heat sucks at highway speeds. cant get the cabin above 15 degrees c in those conditions. Thinking of getting the 2025 for the better heat. I see in the technical info that they will still come with the original 5KW heater as a back up and the heat pump as the main source. I couldn't imagine them making a crapper heating system then the one I have now but cant find any real specs on what the output is at what climate. anyway, wondering if yours works good. then I may assume the 2025 should be better or the same.
