Hi Looking at the portable charger I thought that one of the adapters was a 16amp site socket which would be useful on a camp site or if you have an external 16 amp socket, which I have, but when I tried to plug plugged it in realised it is 32 amp, the charge unit also appears to be rated at 32 amp. I have about 24 amps spare on this property if I take this to a 32 amp socket will the portable charger work and benefit from 24 amps rather than 13 on standard 3 pin

you could consider a grizzl-e which some people have used when they don't have enough amps in the box. I'm not sure about the ford portable evse working in the scenario you describe. https://grizzl-e.com/home-products/

The OP is located in the UK. Our experiences here in one of the colonies ( ?) are likely not relevant.

I am not sure what you are really trying to do but what you link to I would not describe as portable. There are two things you need to consider. Earthing and overloading. The equipment you linked to needs appropriate earthing and I would suggest should not be used as a portable solution in fact an earth rod is an accessory for it which is certainly not portable. If you have only a 32A circuit and other equipment is connected then clearly you cannot use a 32A charger. Perhaps I have misunderstood your question in which case I apologise. I have not taken delivery of my MME yet but in the PHEV I currently have, a 13A charger was supplied for plugging in to domestic wiring I would use this and accept the slower charging.

Hi I probably did not explain correctly I was just looking at the most cost effective way to get a charge from my holiday property without having to go for full charging point (with no grant) and was hoping to use the portable adapter which comes with the car But the electrician that looked at it was worried if we put 20 amps(all we have spare) to a 32 amp socket how would the ford charger deal with it
So the mains outlet at the property would be fixed not portable
By the way had the MME for 10 days it replaced a much loved Porsche Macan petrol s ...So far NO Regrets

The Ford charger wont deal with it, it's blind to the circuit you are plugging it into. If there is not enough headroom on the circuit it will trip the fuse.

There does not appear to be a lot of literature on the Ford Mobile Charger but I PRESUME that when the 3-Pin plug is inserted it will only draw up to ~13amps and with the commando socket up to ~32amps.

I only make this presumption as a domestic 3-pin plug is only rated to carry up to a 13amp fuse and a domestic double gang socket is normally only rated to provide a total of 20amps. The Ford Mobile Charger cant be drawing 32amps with the 3-pin domestic plug in it.

I guess the different adaptor types activate a different charging profile for the mobile charger itself when plugged in and in-turn limit the draw accordingly.

I don't have the equipment in front of me yet so cant check but in theory you should be able to use the domestic 3-pin plug adaptor on a 20amp circuit.
