5 EVGo locations all DARK - no power for 2 weeks ?

So I normally charge at one of the 3 EVGo chargers near me once a week and the past 2 weeks all the locations are dark (no power) to all the towers.

Never had an issue except for maybe 1 tower was off line or doing an update.

Why would all locations and all towers have no power?

I called customer service and they said the techs are working on it.

I asked if they forgot to pay the utility power company - they played dumb and said they are privately owned ?

Got an email yesterday that sounds suspiciously like a canned statement:

"These stations recently suffered some major damage that our technicians are still in the process of repairing. Please know we are working hard to repair these stations as quickly as possible. We have added a note to the repair ticket to reach out to you once it's operational."


Major damage - all 5 locations ?
There was no thunder/lightning storm - we are in So Calif where it's sunny and warm all month.

3 locations I drove to had no one working on them the past 2 weeks - there was no vandalism - no signs of any work in progress.

Is there something sinister going on?

Tesla adapters can't come fast enough .IMHO.
These other charger companies will blame the Tesla agreement as to why they will eventually go out of business but every EV driver knows it will be because they didn't treat their customers and their product with any kind of concern or care .
IF these chargers were actually well maintained they would have the anti Elon crew sticking by their side out of spite

Did you check for reports on PlugShare?

I don't know if they did, but I checked the one in Rancho Cucamonga just for grins. No reports of any sort since early November. PlugShare doesn't work without checking in folks. The OP should definitely report these on PlugShare.

EA did something similar a couple months ago…turned off three local locations completely for a couple weeks and left the whole area a hot mess. I really can’t understand the business logic these companies use. Or lack there of. It’s very strange.

Yes, same - all are reporting offline - damage reported on 2 locations.

Yes, the timing was awful with all the out of area visitors coming in for the holidays between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

EA targeted Labor Day ?. Between the two of them they’re covering all holidays.

This is kinda my point . IF they cared they would've had all chargers ready and waiting for the holidays .
Bad business also because any out of commission charger results in a zero cash flow .Maybe a month of travelers would've helped the bottom line . Like Black Friday helps retailers for the year .

There was a storm that ran though S. California last week. N. Ca got the early one and then moved south. Flooded the whole Santa Barbara area. It stayed out there for awhile. It was probably the reason why the outage.

I had very inconsistent results on PlugShare on my recent road trip. Stations I know exist wouldn’t show up on my searches. I like to submit feedback but wasn’t able to on many of my stops.

That's easy -- just add the station. I've added several.

I’ve since added them on my iPad but they weren’t on my phone. Inconvenient when looking it up on the road.

I do almost all of my charging at home or at work. Honestly, EvGO has wasted enough of my time to really sour me on their “service”. They never acknowledge broken chargers until they can’t avoid acknowledging it.
