Just a theory

Just chatted with Ford. For some reason, although the original method for transporting my vehicle was RAIL, it's now been changed to CONVOY and it's going by Jack Cooper #1362760829.

The estimated arrival date is not until 11/12 at the dealer (it is currently sitting at Ramp 6P).

Since Palsapp is now closed to us, I guess the only way is to have Ford (chat or dealer) check once it starts moving in a few days (who knows how many other stops it has along the way).

Anyone have any ideas ?

If you are on Ramp 6P. That is Norfolk Sothern Rail. Not sure where in PA you are, but it should be rail to Wilmington DE or Newark NJ.

If chat said it was via Jack Cooper, that is most likely going from Ramp 6R across town to Ramp 6P.

Since I have my railcar info I have been able to use the Norfolk Southern Corp phone system to get updates... I've been calling a lot. The car was in Moberly, MO yesterday evening and passed Clapper, MO in the early morning today. Around noon it was in East Decatur, IL.

If you also are a rail shipment using NSC and you have your tracking info this might be useful for you - here is the phone number I saved in my contacts with my tracking info and the 'waits' programmed so I don't have to dial in anything when calling.

You'll need to enter your own tracking number in, but this makes it super quick to check the status - I went the extra mile and put a widget on my iPhone Home Screen to launch this as a contact. It takes about a minute total to get through the prompts and hear the update - much better than doing it manually.

Still waiting on truck pickup at the end of the railroad to the dealership. Got to the stop last Wednesday evening, coming up on almost 7 days just a few towns over. I'm wondering if it was for logistics reasons, maybe a couple of cars coming in over the week, and will all get on 1 truck, anyway, just sitting here twiddling my thumbs.

With how long Ford's shipping takes, and lack of meaningful updates, I find myself searching for any other way to get answers. I think I stumbled across something that gives me a little bit of insight. Or I could be completely wrong and it was just a coincidence. Either way, I thought I would share.

It's logged into my Ford account and has the VIN number, but other than that it doesn't do anything because the car is not activated yet.

When you triple-tap on the "Unable to retrieve status" text, a little box pops up and tells you when the last update was. I discovered it around the time the car was built and the date updated a few times. I thought maybe it was updating when the car was moved to a new location like a rail car, etc. Then it stayed at 10/7, which should have been around the time it showed up in MO. Since then Ford chat has had my car at Argentine, KS but with a convoy number, no rail car number. That was the case as of Friday.
This morning I decided to try again, and I got this:

So I jumped on Ford chat, and sure enough I am still in KS, but have a rail car number now. So maybe somehow the Ford servers are getting an update when they turn the car on to move it? I don't know. I don't know if it really means anything and it probably doesn't help much anyway. Like I said just thought I should share.

UPDATE: I just checked Ford's website and they updated my ETA for the Premium again to 11/01 to 11/07. Hopefully I get a call from my dealer today!!

You might want to check to see if they updated your ETA.

I was able to pick up my car yesterday with not much trouble. At first the salesman was not sure about ford options and said I could get financing at 3.9 for 72 months, but then checked with his manager. Options for my Jan 11 2022 order was 2.74% with $1,000 incentive. That sounds right to me, I know some orders got a better deal but I seem to remember a 2 something number from ordering. I am going to save my tax refund and proceeds from selling my car for the balloon payment.

For those wondering there is a clause in my contract that allows for refinancing of the end payment at "the lower of the APR contained in this contract or the maximum APR permitted by law. Your refinanced monthly payment will be the same as in this contract if the refinanced amount will be fully paid in 36 months or less. Otherwise, your monthly payment will be the amount needed to fully pay the refinanced amount in 36 months."

One thing to watch out for is your deposit, half way though my paperwork I realized my $500 deposit was not included. They took care of it but I am glad I remembered.

Also activating the car was a little issue. I could add the car in app but it was blank until about 6 hours after purchase it just popped up with the option to activate.

Mine is awaiting transport from Port of Delaware to Baltimore. Looks like it's been there since Thursday or Friday. Hopefully not much longer now.

It's my understanding that the fed tax credit for the Mach e will continue into 2023 as it's made in "the Americas" and the IRS has not yet come out with the battery origin contingency so it's likely to grandfather in any vehicles like the Mach e until that time.

But there is an income cap starting in 2023 & I think we may be over that cap. It's one thing if the cap existed when I ordered, but it didn't. When deciding whether I wanted to spend this much on a car, the $7500 credit was definitely a factor. After waiting a full year for the vehicle to arrive, I'm still going to buy the car, but I will not be happy to be paying a lot more for it.

The income should be based on your 2022 tax filings. So it might still be possible to lower it a bit if you are close.

Last resort, you can see if the dealer is willing to sell you a car in transport. They have the VIN and all so paper work wise they might be able to do it.

Edit: Estimated delivery was 11/01/22, got to the dealership on that very day. Keep the faith all who are waiting on delivery.

One would think it better to allow us to track the snail pace shipment of our cars on our own vs tying up the poor Ford chat reps with the constant “Dude, where’s my car?!

I totally gave them several… suggestions… on the survey regarding how they could improve their service. I reminded them they may currently have a monopoly on decent EVs, but that won’t always be the case. And I will remember how utterly stupid and unprofessional they have been regarding their shipping practice.

I know they have us by the short and curlies, for now, and don’t care, but I feel better spitting a little venom their way ??

Damn it... my dates just changed by a month... I was supposed to receive it between 10/29-11/4... now 12/7-12/13 even have a trailer car # from the dealer, with the 11/4 date... Will be reaching out to the dealer now.
