A plug-in your car reminder would be helpful

We met some companies at the Detroit Auto Show that are working on wireless charging. Just pull into your garage and it will be set to charge.

I don't feel this works very well on smartphones (speed, heat, contact, etc.). Wonder how it'll be to charge a car battery.

The company we spoke to today is claiming up to 95% efficiency. They did a demo for us and a short interview. We should have a video about the tech out in a couple of weeks.

They also talked about how it is safe not only for humans but pets that may crawl under the car.

I’ve made my own automation in Shortcuts, it runs everyday at 10 PM and notifies me if the car is less than 50% and not plugged in.

You can edit the charge threshold to whatever you want (typically your charge target). I have it set to only notify below 50% if not plugged in. Set an automation to run it daily before your bedtime. If you are plugged in or above 50% nothing will happen.

It's seems like the plug in reminder works just fine, but it will only notify you if your battery is at a level where you receive a low battery warning. You could increase this threshold to a higher amount of range if you don't mind more frequent "low battery" warnings while driving. Choose your poison I guess.

I agree with the OP that this would be a very useful feature in the app and the dev team would just need to expand the plug in reminder notification feature to allow the user to set a different mileage or charge threshold for when they want to be reminded to plug in.

My folks have a Post-It-Note on the door from the garage to the house. It says, "Charge Car."

Set a nightly reminder on your phone. Why does the car have to do everything when you already carry a tool for that job in your pocket?

I set a reminder on the Reminders app on my iPhone. At 9PM it tells me to plug in. Most of the time, I am just marking it as complete since my car is already plugged in by then.

If I don't plug my car in at night and it's cold in the morning, I hear about it from my kids. If I forget to charge my wife's car, I hear about it from her. If I forget to charge my car and have a long drive, I'm screwed.

Overall, haven't really needed external reminders because I'm already strongly incented to manage it...

Interesting, I haven't seen that.
Still a time based alert would be more helpful. Getting home doesn't mean you're done for the day, that's not when you need a reminder.

I've gotten it a few times going back to December. It only happens when you're really low, below the low battery threshold it seems.
