So, I did get Paak to work at least for first time. Very nice- I'll never use it. But while I was setting it up it was suggested to me that I should create a Backup Start Pass Code. This is in the event the dog eats my phone, AND the fob has fallen through a sewer grate and then eaten by a dog.

I used one of my typical password algorithms and came up with 12 letters/numbers/characters. Not strong enough, I got one of 4 stength bars.

I added my kid's names.. Nope. I added their birth years.. Nope.

Being keen for a challenge I typed &&&(())((*****&$$123456789$$$$ and still didn't satisfy the requirement to enter a 'strong' password. I did not pass GO.

So, has anyone had difficulty with this part of the puzzle? What worked, I'll use yours.

Signed, Stumped

If I recall, my password didn't rate 4/4 on the strength scale but it still let me use it. It's a fairly strong password in its own right but nothing crazy.

Maybe it's their way of saying "It's a password....FOR YOUR CAR. It will never be strong enough!" or that if someone manages to punch in your code and take your car for a spin, Ford can just say "Well you picked a password that only rated 3/4 so really it's your own fault."

HAHAHAHAHAH!!!

So I'm an IT guy, I have multiple 18 or longer passwords that I have to memorize that can't be the same and can't be repeated. I had the EXACT same "WHAT IN THE FUUUUUUUUK" moment. My kids were in the car with me at the time too and they thought that shit was hilarious.

Add it to another bug in their software. It will allow you to save it even if its "not strong" according to the car lol

Oh wait, your car is actually saying minimum requirement is not met.. That is a little different than the issue I had. I just could not get it to fill out the entire password strength meter.

So my suggestion would be to try more common special characters like ! or $ maybe the #.. A lot systems don't like ( * or % and the such and thus might just be ignoring them. Try muroFEhcaM$$ (macheforum backwards, and I know for a fact $ is accepted) and see if it will at least remove the minimum requirement not met error. If it removes the requirement, then you know the issue, so you can think up of your own password.

This would be mine, and I can remember it. :)

Remember, the guy trying to steal it does not have all the time in the world.

I mean.... Backward words are always SUPER good way to start a password. But I would not put it past to have some hack created where you just plug into the port of the car and it brute forces a million "known" passwords in a matter of seconds.

That said... If someone wants your car, they are going to take your car lol Just being an IT guy just wanted to share my 2 cents on password choices.

My wife and I were just discussing this. I had to delete Ford Pass and re-install, so I think I need to create a new password. (I don't for sure, because I can't get PAAK to work after the re-install.) But we were thinking of changing to a relatively easy password. Our thinking--we're at an age where we can't remember a lot of stuff. And...if we ever needed the password in an emergency, we may not be at our best.

That seems more likely than someone trying to steal our car...

The only thing I can think of with what you showed in your post is that you're actually only using symbols and numbers, no upper case and lower case letters. On top of that the general 'known bad password' list everyone uses so you can't use like P@ssword1 because it's easily hacked.

I'd be curious if it worked if you did something like Mm3g0E$f@$t!.

It will accept a password with all lower case letters with no numbers or symbols.... So the bar is pretty low

I don't see a letter in there, have you tried something like 123abc ? It accepts all lower case letters and numbers for me during... one of many resets. (thanks paak)

Also reminds me of this XKCD comic:

I'll be honest I didn't pay attention to the password strength, just created one, using letters numbers and symbols. Promptly wrote it down in sharpie on the door code card the car comes with carry in my wallet. (laminated it). If someone wants my car bad enough to figure out the password they can have it, easier to just hold me at gunpoint take the fob, phone or code card. LOL

I have a tough enough time with English as it is. THAT will never flow from my fingertips 3 or 4 years from now - at least not on purpose.
