Hi Mark,
Have you read any specs about the Gravity? We considered the Lucid Air but it was way too big length-wise for us. We visited their Bay area store and were impressed with the tech and efficiency of their vehicles.
The Gravity is going to be revealed at the LA Auto Show in about a week. So no specs yet but it is expected to use the same platform as the Air, so probably similar length if not a little longer. But it is speculation at this point. Lucid is claiming they will have the longest range SUV, which is a credible claim considering the Air.

I used to be in the “need for speed” camp

now I am in the ”need for range camp”

I have to say charging issues, which I haven’t really had is not a real problem for me, being retired changes things drastically. I’ve said before, if I was working and or traveling with my entire family, it def would be an issue.

there are cars such as the IX 50 that can get almost 350 miles at 70 mph, not bad, unfortunately not a great looking front..

would like the smaller Rivian SUV out in a couple of years but not sure I want to wait that long. Same for Lucid, also what are thoughts on Lucid continuing, will they make it long term?

I think they have a less than 50% chance of making it. But they have industry leading motor and inverter technology, and the Air is an incredible vehicle. I think everything is riding on the Gravity. If demand is high and they can ramp up production quickly enough, I think they can make it. It is certainly going to be very hard to do.

Rivian has a head start and they still have not proven they can make it either. I think Rivian has a better than 50% chance of making it.

Lucid and Rivian are the only two new automakers in the US that I think have a reasonable chance of surviving. The others are so far behind I cannot imagine they can ever catch up. But who knows? Canoo could surprise us all.

I'm actually looking at used Bolts right now. Plenty of off-lease CPO ones available near me. And, they seem to be one of the few used cars that are following normal depreciation curves. This will be in addition to the MME.

Ford bought my Mach-E back as a lemon. Continual warnings on my dashboard and limited drive train power, including losing the acceleration twice. Then, I had an issue with key fobs not being recognized. I have moved on to a Mercedes EQS, for which I pay $70 less a month than I did for a Ford. Couldn't be happier.

As a recipient of Massachusetts MOR-EV rebate, I am required to keep my Mach-E for 3 years. That will be Sept 2024. I plan to test drive as many EV's in spring/summer of 2024 as I can.
I will be in year 3 of 4 with the Ford Option and will need about $26K to "break even" for last year and baloon payment of current.

Based on my previous research/test drives back in 2021, we gravitated towards the Polestar and Volvo line. Many were not available like the e-Tron and Fisker, so will probably want to check those out also. Another Mach-E is probaby the answer right now as we have been very happy with it. Not sure what would be included with any new models that is not available now. I suppose keeping it for an extra year or longer is not out of the question.

EV market is funky right now, so what we can sell existing for and what incentives look like for new will determine.

Hey guys!

Just thought I would pose a question. After your MME, what will be the next vehicle you may want to buy?

Me personally, I have a Silverado EV on order. The nice customer service people at Chevy (not the dealership, the EV Concierge line) told me that it should arrive in late 2025. I’ll have my MME paid off by then so I’ll be keeping it and adding the truck.

MME for the 120+ mile daily commute, and the Silverado for fun! With a 400 mile range, that is Vegas without stopping. (I live in Los Angeles).

My other dark horse (Second option) is to get the Rivian 1RS… Hopefully they have one at the LA auto show this year. I’m going to see everything this year when I go on Thanksgiving.

That’s my plan…. How about you guys?
R1S on order. Also looking at VW Buzz if it ever shows up. What I would really like is a BEV exact replacement for my Toyota Sienna, but I'm sure they will screw that up just like they did the ICE Siennas around 2017.

I'm mostly happy with my Mach-E and my F-150 Lightning these days, but as soon as an electric Bronco is available, it will be time to say goodbye to my Mach-E. It seems I'll be waiting a few years at least...
I would be checking out the crash test results on the Bronco tho

The day Ford announces a "regular" Mustang coupe EV, I'm calling my dealer and telling them I'm trading in my MME for one. If Ford doesn't do that, then It'll be whatever sedan or coupe seems like a responsible choice when it's time to say goodbye to my MME (hopefully, not for many years).

We have two cars in the household. Until the usable charging infrastructure in USA competes with the gas stations, we will always keep one gas car for trips longer than 1 charging stop each way. Point being, I don’t think we want to go full electric just yet

As soon as Tesla adds a proper blind spot monitor, a radar based rear cross traffic alert, and a radar based parking sensors, I’ll return to being a Tesla driver. I won’t go near a Tesla until that happens. And I was a Tesla owner 2018-2023. I just cannot give them a pass for skimping on basic safety and driver assistance features.

Let’s assume that it hasn’t happened yet and it’s time for me to change the car…

If Ford is still in the business of making EV, my next car after my current MME will also be an MME hands down.

If Ford isn’t making EV anymore, then it’ll be pretty much any EV SUV that has a comparable real world range (aka 200 miles on 90% battery in freezing weather which should give us about 275 miles on a great warm day) because range is THE most important criterion when it comes to owning an electric vehicle.

Our next EV will be another Mach-E.

After the Mach-E I have no idea what the market will look like as we will keep the car another 6 years. But I would LOVE a Maverick EV to replace our 2017 Ford Focus Electric

A plug-in Hybrid that gets a minimum 50 miles on all electric is my ideal candidate. 95% of the time thats all I need. Then the occasional road trip no worries.

I love driving my MME, and I'd never consider an ICE vehicle again, but I'm just sick and tired of all the issues I have (PAAK no longer works, exterior door locks and one-touch windows buttons work intermittently, "Dive Mode Not Available." "Check 12V battery," so I've been thinking about a Fiskar Alaska or Toyota electric pickup when they're available, if they're viable. I settled for the MME although I'm a SUV or truck person, but the MME is in no way an SUV.

At my age I'm in the need of a ramp camp. We'll probably keep the MME for 3 to 4 years depending on the price of gas. If it skyrockets, used BEV might increase in value. Just bought a Hybrid Maverick. The wife likes the flexibility of the BEV and the hybrid.
