Yes, old news but I’m sure 75 to 80 percent of people don’t know about it

That is the correct answer. I’m not sure what you want it to say? It’s automatic, not a 2000 Toyota Corolla. You might want to ask it ā€œhow do I cut the wire that controls the passenger airbagā€

I try to avoid all AI tools if I can. It's a tremendous statement about how lazy and stupid society has become that searching an online manual now requires AI.

That’s a bit old fashioned thinking (I know, I know, you’re and old man)
At my work every single person is encouraged, almost required, to use AI in their day to day work.
And during people review there is a section you need to fill out about how you used AI to do your work in the last 6 months.

P.S. I hardly use it, other than for demos. ???

Because we're taking away the need to THINK. Today's worker is too use to having technology answer the question for them. That'd be great, IF that led them to go further, but the reality is that if the phone/computer/AI will do it for me, then I can watch Instagram or Tik Tok (I don't use either).

AI should be used to cure cancer, not read my manual and give me totally crap answers. If you don't read the manual, the vehicle should stop and make you.

Maybe it's different in your country, but there is no passenger airbag disable in the USA. If the AI was trained based on the USA manual then it wouldn't know about that.
Ah interesting! Here in Norway I believe there is a key hole with the hand box that you can turn your key in to disable it. Can try to get an image of it later.

I want it to be honest and reply with a suitable reply. If it doesn’t know - ask me to specify, like what region I am in (ref the keyhole thingy in the reply above), or say that it doesn’t know. Using resources (computer power) to write half truths, lies, non relevant stuff and sometimes correct answers seems inefficient.

I have not. I'm old fashioned and prefer a hands on owners manual. ?

I do like a paper version, too, but electronic versions are so useful researching jobs as a forensic vehicle examiner.

However, am I missing something? An AI assisted owners manual………..as opposed to……….original electronic version??ā€ā™‚ If the AI version is an electronic representation of the correct original version is that representation sufficiently, nailed on, cast iron guaranteed correct?

I should have mentioned I also have a PDF version in my computer and phone in case I'm not near the car.

I don’t think asking AI to find an answer for you or make suggestions to improve something you’re working on is going to degrade the thinking skills of people.

In this specific scenario, all it is doing is finding the page that has the info that you’re looking for, a more efficient index lookup, and instead of just giving you the page number, it prints the info that relates to the subject that’s on that page.

In the scenarios where it improves people’s work is, the person is presented with a problem, and thinks of the solution, but asks AI to help check the solution and make suggestions on how to improve it. I do that by walking into people’s offices and asking them what they think of my solution. Why not also ask AI for its opinion.

Yes, there people who just give the problem to AI and copy the solution the AI gives them and wonder days later why it doesn’t work. Those people were never going to succeed in that position anyway and should look for a new job.

I’m also an advocate of using AI in school work to get homework done. You can efficiently find the information about the subject, history or math or science. As long as the student doesn’t just copy paste the answer. But instead READ the response and understand it and put it in their own words. All AI is doing is an efficient google search

Sorry, no sale.
