This one is strange but it is happening more and more often to me. I open AA and select map, and a destination. I get a notification that the car/phone "can't find GPS signal". It lasts the whole trip making the AA Google Map useless.. When I look at the phone, it is getting GPS signal just fine. The car nav GPS works fine also. Anyone else seeing this?

Yep. It looks like an Android Auto problem. It's not only Ford who has problems to create decent software ?

Interestingly, the problem only occurs in the combination of Google Maps and Android Auto. Because as soon as Android Auto is closed and Google Maps is used on the smartphone, the GPS works again. It is also reported that the GPS is only lost when the smartphone display turns off. And that brings us a little closer to a possible solution that is said to have been successful for some users: Give the Google Maps app permission to constantly access your location and not just "when using the app".

There's also a lot of radio interference within the vehicle, and I've found that with my phone, I need to have it towards the passenger seat for the best reliability.

I'm not near a PC right now, but the manual has a diagram of recommend areas for electronics (e.g. toll transponders).

Also, it could be a Google bug ?

That has always been my setting so I do not think that is the answer.

I just started seeing the same issue. Apparently this is cropping up with allot of folks with with different vehicles and is an android auto issue and not a vehicle issue.

If the vehicle onboard navigation is working fine (with the onboard gps receiver) and google maps on the phone works fine (with the gps receiver from the phone) , there must be some interference between the 2 receivers when using android auto, isn't it?. Maybe the position is switching between the 2 gps receivers? Btw, the same problem occurs with apple phones.

With regards to this current GPS issue in Android Auto, it's entirely a Google Maps issue.

Other maps on the phone work fine, even when projected to SYNC via Android Auto. For example I tried the PlugShare app, it was fine. My auto insurance app is also continuing to work as reliably as it was before this issue began.

I was used to navigate with Waze on my phone. With the MME and the use of Android Auto, I have changed to google maps because I was facing problems with the gps position freezing in Waze. Now I notice problems in google maps as well.

Interesting. I don't use Waze so I can't compare my experience. But perhaps the issue is something they share in common, or maybe it's a coincidence. ?
