That one has 4 battery packs. Two behind the cab for the traction motors and two between the LH wheels for the PTO. Not sure the size though... ??

the vehicle weighs 40,000 pounds. their energy consumption makes it 6kWh per mile. They claim 70 'working' miles so the battery is somewhere around 400kWh

Another calculation:
Stated charge time is 90 minutes at 150 KW. That’s 225 KWHr. If we presume that’s 20 to 80%, the battery is 375 KWHr. Same ballpark as your calc.

70 working miles for a garbage truck with a 90 minutes charge, not sure how practical this is but still very cool to see. I just wish it was a Lion EV truck ;-)

Sounds perfect for a government job. Work an hour, rest for 90 minutes, repeat.

70 low speed miles is probably a normal day for a garbage truck and the fuel savings would be massive since EV's are really good at stop/start. Add in lower maintenance and I see this completely viable.

When I came back to my car today, I saw this (Mack LR Electric) at a charging station near Quebec City. I’m wondering what’s the battery pack in those!

I’m surprised it found a place to charge, is anyone else worried about how people towing with a Ford Lightning are gonna pull into a charger spot?

I agree, I’ve often been out on brisk walks where I annoyingly keep pace with the garbage truck, neither really falling behind nor passing it. What’s a brisk walk, 4 miles per hour or so?

Not all houses are spaced that closely together, but still, agree that 70 miles of range would be very workable for a garbage truck.

Not quite fair, LOL.

My garbage service provider is a private company, Republic Services.

And they are currently testing a Mack garbage truck.

That is the one in the specs above.
