Based on your account Of this event, I’m not seeing anything that points to an EV as the cause. Kind of a stretch. We’re,you doing 30 in a 35 in the left lane?

I can see absolutely nothing about EV ownership, or the public’s perception of EV ownership that would cause someone to flip you off simply because you were driving one. Anyone doing so would have to wonder whether you could figure out why he was doing it Under those circumstances.
I think you'll find that the digital salute is from Ford's one pedal design. When bringing ours home from the dealership and following, the constant brake lights coming on and off in cruise was irritating to say the least.

30k miles thru 16 states (NorthEast, Mid-Atlantic, Central Appallachia and the MidWest / Upper MidWest)... no 1-finger salutes yet. Several road challenges (TransAm, Dodge Hellcat, at least 2 ICE Mustangs)... every challenge ended with a Thumbs Up from the other guy (yes, all guys) except the one at 1 AM when it was too dark to see the other driver. At least 10 wide-grin Thumbs Ups from the sidewalk Gen Z crowd.

More than half the time, pretty cool comparo conversations at DC charging stations.

So far, great all-American social interactions, just as things should be imho.

I give mine a middle finger salute every time I try to use Kick to Open (KtO). KtO functions only about 25% of the time and usually malfunctions when I am in a public place so that everyone sees the crazy dog repeatedly kicking his car in the butt instead of sniffing its butt. ??

1 we were all doing 35 in a 30, one lane each direction, nobody was holding anyone up. the chevy was in front of me and i don't follow closely.

2 maybe in the utopia you live in, but here in the burbs of CHI-RAQ it's like people are always looking to unhinge on someone. road rage, EV rage, i see it often.
Agreed. I misread your post. 35 in a 30. Fact remains, tho, nothing in your post points to your driving an EV as the reason you got salute. Just sayin’.

Try living in Alberta, Canada (or Texas I assume).

I've had cops tell me I'm "ruining the country"... and other oil and gas losers yell at me for driving my Mach-e.

If only they knew. LOL
What kind of smooth brain take is this complaint? Lol

Definitely a trick to getting it to not come on all the time, I’ve mastered it and it only comes on when I’m coming to an actual stop, gotta feather that pedal!

I'm not too familiar with the different demographics of Canada, but Alberta sounds like Florida or Texas lol (I live in Florida)

I had a vet pull up next to me at a red light, then swerve in front of me after we got the green then take off like a bat out of H***. Guess the driver felt he had something to prove.
that would be okay with me - those Corvettes are beautiful machines! In fact, the other day that DID happen to me and I was just enjoying looking at his car so much...was that a diss on my MME? I totally missed it because I was all google-eyed at his gorgeous red Corvette. LOL!

It's going to get worse.

Since this post I have now had a confrontation charging at my local Sam's Club with my 4 year old daughter in the car with me.

As I'm charging a gruffy looking boomer comes up to the charging station and tries to see pricing and motions for me to roll down window. I oblige and he starts off innocently enough asking about how much it costs to charge, then starts talking about the grid and the dangers EVs pose. I told him I'm charging almost exclusively at home via solar. He ignores this and goes on about the holes in the ground from mining materials and blah blah. At that point I'm like dude I'm not interested in your opinions on the matter....and lemme tell you boomers NEVER like to hear you don't care about their opinions. He went into his "all you libs are all the same" type yelling, straight up yelling in a parking lot while I'm charging.

I end the confrontation by opening the drivers door and step out and am clearly a much larger person than he anticipated and he leaves.

So now I'm explaining to my 4 year old why that man was yelling at Dad and imaging if I'd left my wife in the car while I shopped what sort of confrontation she'd have had in my place.

So now as I'm seeing these narratives being pushed against EVs I'm reminded how one political party is making MYSELF and my FAMILY a target and encouraging this divide and I'm kinda pissed about it.
I am sorry this happened to you, especially with your young daughter in the car. I don't know how I would have handled it but you seem to have done okay. One thing I would like to gently say in defense of "boomers NEVER like to hear you don't care" Well, I am a boomer, I drive a new MME, and I am always interested in people's opinions if they are really interested in conversation. I am not interested in their opinions if they are closed minded and just want to argue like this man wanted to do with you, regardless of his age. I'm in Idaho, a red state if there ever was one and some of the things ppl say here really alarm me. Maybe we need more EVs/MMEs on the road so they become more commonplace and then we'll be left alone because it won't be "threatening" the status quo.

Clearly there are good boomers, I wouldn't take offense to being called one though. It just so happens the uninformed about EVs are loud boomers who get triggered because someone decided to use a different type of fuel to propel their conveyance.
