AT&T customers hit by widespread cellular outages in U.S - will that affect PAAK, software updates, etc ?

I think my car is still communicating through at&t. My location is still updating and weather still loads in the nav app.

The outage seems to be widespread yet somehow sporadic.

I have some friends who have at&t in my area and three of their phones say SOS while the forth phone is working fine.

When I read about the ATT outage I refreshed both my f150 and the wifes MachE and both refreshed. Guess its more sporadic here in central FL. or the fact both are on wifi when parked at home.

My Waze and weather in the car were not working this morning (NH). I'm seeing inconsistent performance/signal reception. I've been an AT&T customer since the 90's. I can't remember the last time time I had significant issues.

I'm not seeing my car's location in the Ford Pass app at the moment.

So far no issues in SE Michigan. I just got an OTA update on our F-150 and the hotspot was working this morning in the F-150. My wife drives the MME, but I can get info from it through FordPass even though she is at work.

Our regular cell service is Verizon so can't test otherwise, but things seem business as usual for the vehicles.

The car modem is AT&T, so any updates that Ford tries to push today will have a problem in areas with an outage.

AT&T internet seems to be plugging along quite nicely .

So far, my phone is good and my car doesn’t seem to be off line. SF Bay Area, so likely to retain good uptime.

To answer the questions you asked: PaaK will still work (its Bluetooth) as are the lock, trunk and frunk buttons in the FordPass app. Remote start, charging status and location will not work because the car communicates those through AT&T. Update downloads will also not work, nor will other in car connected services (weather, traffic, hotspot).

I think those are the major items, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. And of course, this only matters in areas where AT&T were down. It still worked fine for many people.

Ironically Ford was just released the BC 1.3 OTA today, but it just so happens it was only for vehicles in very specific regions which just happen to be those impacted by the outage..

So if you don't get the update, blame at&t not Ford...

A network connection is not needed once PAAK has been established between the phone and the car.

Ironically, AT&T must be working in my area (Los Angeles) - just got an update: 24-PU0102-SVD-FX
