I’m new to the MME, and to EV’s in general, but it seems to me that the auto hold function seems kind of redundant when driving in one pedal driving configuration. Am I right about this, or is there something I’m missing?

Also, be sure to turn off auto hold before entering a car wash. When they ask you to put your car in neutral while you have it on auto hold, your car won’t go forward onto the tracks. I backed up the car wash line when I was frantically trying to figure this out. How embarrassing! 😂

I think of those two features as complementary, not redundant.

1PD applies blended braking (mostly electric motor resistance, and some friction braking) if the accelerator pedal isn't being depressed, until the vehicle comes to a complete stop.
Auto Hold is a convenience feature that keeps the car completely stationary after you come to a full stop, allowing you to take your foot off all pedals while still in "Drive."

I have been using both simultaneously for over four years with no issues or negative effects.

In 1PD, the car will stay stopped until you press the pedal again. You can take your feet off and it won’t move - doesn’t need auto Hold to be engaged.

On a steep incline, Auto Hold provides an extra bit of mechanical security to ensure the car doesn't roll backward by fully engaging the friction brakes until power is sent to the wheels once again.

1PD invokes auto-hold. The auto-hold setting does nothing when 1PD is on.

Once the car comes to a stop with 1 pedal, the car is held in place with the friction brakes. Same as auto hold.
The car uses blended brakes even without 1 pedal.

No difference either way. Car always uses friction brakes to hold the car at a stop.

And if you don’t engage Autohold with 1PD, you will never forget to disengage it in the car wash!

My RAV4 had autohold, it took me about a year to get comfortable with it, losing that 65+ year habit, driving the hills of Seattle.

When i go into a carwash i keep the car running in neutral and the car tells me to press L to extend the neutralmode free rolling. That works well for me.

Correct, but if you have auto hold on and are in neutral it locks up and wont move, happened to me once.

You only need to do that if you are going to get out of the car and need it to stay in neutral, like if the tow truck is going to need to pull it up on the flat bed. You don’t need to press “L” if you’re staying in the car with it still on.

I have autolock always on and it doesnt lock. Tested with mme 22 job 2 and 23.75. it may lock up if you do not press L in N while the car is in on (Like ignition on) like you drive in the CW you only switch from D to N (plus L)
