That’s exactly where I live and have had no issues. Matter fact I have over 5,000,000 miles driving a semi truck with summer tires on it as well.
Yes I know, Spokane is in your profile. I’ve spent a lot of time up there as my parents lived nearby for many decades. I used to be able to step off their second story deck directly onto the snow bank during the winters until about 20 years ago.

Most folks don’t have the background you do and don’t have the knowledge to safely operate with a good safety margin with less than good equipment in adverse conditions. They’re the reason for the old axiom, “Experience is what you get after you need it.”

In this case we don’t know if the OP ran summer tires or not. If so, it was almost assuredly a bad decision on multiple levels, even if done unknowingly.

OP has a looong history of very whiny and extremely controversial threads. 62 in total, including this one.

I have the Hankook iON evo AS tires. And I posted an awesome review of them a while back. Mine currently have about 40k on them and are still doing great.
Sorry if I've already asked; where did you get them?

Recently, there was a story about a Canadian who bought a brand new 2022 GTPE in 2024 (2.5 years later). The vehicle comes with Pirelli P0 summer tires. He barely drove 2-3k miles and his tires were cracked and needed replacement. They likely cracked while sitting at the dealer lot unused for 2.5 years.

It is extremely dangerous to drive on summer tires in sub 45 deg winter weather. You will definitely prematurely wear winter tires in the summer, but not cause the type of damage that this guy experienced.
Hey guys, that’s me! I have an update I’m still waiting on posting as they’re going through a few channels to see if they can work things out for me.

Long story short, I found a picture I took 23 hours after delivery that showed cracks on the tires so it was either missed in PDI or developed in that 150km in non-winter temps.

Will keep you all posted hopefully with good news. Interested in this thread too as I was curious about the new Hankook summer ev ion compound.

Is the AS compound still decent traction on a GTPE?

Matt, judging by the fact that Pirelli discourages even storing the tires below 45 deg, I find it hard to believe that the damage did not happen at the dealer. Good luck with all the gymnastics you have to do.

Correction: storing below 20 deg, not 45

Storing 20 or above. Driving 45 or above.

I bought 4x EV Hankook iON. They come with 0 warranty! And despite the reviews, they have to be replaced after less than 20,000 miles! I bought these in November and it's only March now. American Tire, where I bought them, says nothing they can do. Avoid like the plague!
that’s a bummer. I bought the Hankook iON evo AS SUV at the beginning of last summer because they had a warranty and I also got a rebate. I drove them in the summer and they are amazing – beautiful cornering, great hold and handling. I put snow tires on for the winter and the handling is horrible compared to those all seasons. But, the dedicated snows on the AWD Mach-e are a beast in winter. I drove for hours every weekend 5k vertical feet up and down a snowy, icy mountain road and never lost grip once.

I bought mine based on the warranty and I have really liked them so far+-about 5k miles. I find cornering much smoother with these tires. I replaced the OEM right at 30,000 miles.

Let's make a more productive thread with all the happy EVO AS owners piling in....

What was your range decrease? Or increase?

I know it's hard to say, seasons, styles, but long term yall probably have a feel.... Yeah?

( At 36k on my oem tires, will be considering new in the next 6 months i think )
I saw a drop in range shortly after putting the EVO's on... but I believe it was more environmental issues causing the drop. We had a cold March... lots of rain etc.

Now with 12k I have seen no noticeable range loss and I want to say it's slightly better overall.

I can’t speak directly about the Hankook tires, but the reason I went up to 275 section width from 245 was to at least maintain the level of grip the Summer UHP tires had vs. the all-season UHP tires I went to. I can’t speak directly say that I wasn’t disappointed in my choice. ??
