Left my Mach E sitting for the weekend and came back to a fun surprise... The Bluetooth connection is wonky at best.

I first noticed because wireless AA wouldn't work at all. Then I noticed that in the "paired phone" screen, all references to Bluetooth were gone. Only could see AA and carplay.

Here's what it normally shows

Additionally, the phone screen that usually shows this when not connected

Just showed up blank instead.

Then the system will just randomly start working again around 20 minutes into the drive. Regardless of rebooting the sync system.

Luckily I happened to already have an appointment with the dealer, since I haven't been getting any OTA updates.

Any thoughts?

----As a side note, PAAK and all related functions seem to be working just fine

I am amazed they were able to get the part so quickly. Glad they got you fixed up.

Just an update on this. Just in case anyone else runs into this in 3 years and is frantically searching Google.

Turns out it was a bad APIM. Got a new one installed and all is well now ?
I’m wondering if I should have mine looked at by the dealer now.

I recently disabled Wireless Apple CarPlay because the phone was getting extremely hot to the touch and I’m worried it’s ruining the battery. Lately, my battery lasts about as long as a 14 year old with his/her first “nudey mag”.

I’ve tried streaming music over Bluetooth and the iPhone/MME will constantly drop connection. Woo hoo to tech in 2021.

Am I driving too fast for the Bluetooth signal to keep up? /s

I’m not sure I have the latest version of FORscan but I will run a diag against the MME to see if it shows any updates available for any of my modules.

Not sure if your dealer will do much to keep your phone from burning up or anything to do with your phone. You are not alone steaming music thru carplay mine has became a handwarmer more than once. If your phone is new enough to wireless charge throw it on the pad if not it is time to get a 1' usb C charging cable. High phone battery usage is seen throughout this forum and is experienced by many.

So true, wireless AA/Carplay can make for a hot phone and sometimes BT was glitchy..

But for me when the problem arose that's not what the symptoms were. BT just straight up wasn't even an option. Just as if it wasn't even a thing. Removed itself from sync.

Understand it was more than a warm phone due to battery usage. It was something I have not seen yet and really do not need to see it either. Good to hear you got fixed up. Bit different than Ryan's I think. When I first got the vehicle it was only working consistently on a hardwired usb c connection but it has gotten much better. Still gets warm streaming lossless once in a while. Dueling fordpass and music player (foobar2000) trying to consume more battery than the other.

Wait.... I'm just now realizing. Are it saying Forscan can check for module updates!??

When it connects it will tell you if they are aware of a newer version of a modules calibration.

Still haven't found a source for the files to try a manual update with forscan yet.

My car is currently showing this:

BECMB - Battery Energy Control Module B
Part number: HU5T-14G490-AF
Calibration level: HU5T-14G490-AE (latest known: HU5T-14G490-AF)
Strategy : HU5T-14G499-AE

RFA - Remote Function Actuator
Part number: MU5T-14G617-AG
Calibration level: MU5T-14G617-AG (latest known: MU5T-14G617-AK)
Strategy : MU5T-14G623-AJ

I bet the BECMB is the update for the loud fans during L2 charging, and the RFA update is what is adding the Frunk release button.

Interesting. I just tried it myself and the only modules showing an update were the two you posted plus one on the RGTM - rear gate/trunk module
