I didn’t say “public.” But many us are well aware of an official communication concerning BC1.4. That rollout was aborted after about a week back in December 2023.

So when you say your 2021 received BC1.3 OTA, are you referring to the December 2023 aborted campaign (which was actually 1.4), or did you receive 1.3 via the new campaign this summer?
Debating semantics isn’t helping you get what you are looking for, so I’ll drop it (although I would like to see this official communication, simply out of personal interest). To your other question, I have nothing to add beyond the answer @benk016 provided.

The poll is missing the “What’s BlueCruise?” option. ??

I’m confused as to why you’re being so cagey about this.

Are in the EAP? If you are, then you are well aware of the official email which was provided last December re 1.4. Not sure why you are arguing this.

I take it from the rest of your answer that, like @benk016, your 2021 received 1.3 OTA this summer as part of a test deployment. Ok. Not sure why you feel you can’t just say that.

Your argument that 1.4 never existed, and was never officially acknowledged by Ford - both false - made me think that maybe you were the recipient of the December release and you were just wrongly referring to that as 1.3. I stand corrected. I think. Still not totally sure. Weird.

Ford has been weird about the 1.4 thing and caused most of this confusion.

At this point we need to just write off the 1.4 as a typo in an email that wasn't meant to go out, and move on. we'll probably never get a real answer on what happened with that like most other things.

The 1.3 version that is going out now is very similar to the version that came out last year, and it's officially announced as coming to the vehicles publicly.

Twenty years ago, software was so hardware dependent, that by the time a major piece was written and debugged (taking 203 years), hardware had moved on and it all was obsolete. That dilemma is generally not true anymore. I am hoping that Ford Sortware is sufficiently module that it can be updated by the piece, not by the whole thing. Does anyone know? The one kicker is that future software may depend upon new hardware sensors. Many of us would be quite will to pay a few thousand $$$ to update every five years or so.

edit, correction, that zero needs to be a 'dash' 2-3 years. grrrrrrrr.

I suspect you are 100% correct. I may never get 1.4, but I’ll always have the email lol.

To the extent Ford says anything, they’ll probably chalk it up to “a thoughtful process on the backend.”

Welcome @chesteroberto! You are now the third poster to indicate receipt of 1.3 OTA on a 2021. Please tell us about your update experience. Are you in EAP?
No, I’m not in EAP. I did not receive BC 1.3 OTA, but instead installed it from FDRS module updates, then activated the configuration settings using ForScan.

I just realized that I put my vote in the wrong category. I’ll put my tail between my legs while I try to figure out if I can move my response to the correct category.

BlueCruise is based on the Mobileye hardware platform. Ford is currently using EyeQ4 which was released in 2018. Mobileye is now up to EyeQ7. Our cars are already well out of date. The good news (for now) is that Ford is continuing putting EyeQ4 in to current models. That's a single target for software development (although there is a mid and high performance tier and I'm not sure we have info on if Ford started with mid and has since switched newer models to high which could explain the difficulty of putting 1.2+ on '21 and '22 model years beyond just the OTA issues). It also means that there are hard limits on what capabilities they can add.

@SonicBlue , I owe you an apology. I was rooting through my email, and I found a mail from Ford, sent December 14, 2023, letting me know that “in the next few days, I’d be among the first to receive BlueCruise 1.4”. So you are absolutely correct, Ford did publicly acknowledge the existence of a product called “BlueCruise 1.4” at one point.
That said, I obviously never received 1.4, and my answer in this poll is accurate.

I have a 2023 GTPE and it looks like it was made on April 25, 2023. The window sticker says it was 1.2 for BlueCruise. I have most of the features that are claimed are in 1.3. But I never saw a blatant 1.3 update come.

I have all these:
  • Lane change assist
  • Predictive speed assist
  • Upcoming curve indicstor
  • Lane position adjustment when next to large vehicles

I am still on BC 1.0. I am betting I won't see 1.3 before my car turns 3 years. It's 3rd birthday is 10-11-24

Let's keep track of just what's happing in terms of delivery to our vehicles so we better know what year vehicles are getting the BC updates.
I have a 2023 GTPE that came with BC 1.2. I just received an OTA update to 1.3 about two hours ago - installation is complete but have not yet checked it out yet.
