I get the notice that I'm in blue cruise but the screen stays white and says keep hands on wheel, which seems like the original cruise. I also wish the BC would not "bounce" back and forth in the lane, I actually leave my hand on during BC now because it is annoying and passengers don't like the feeling.

Thanks for the replies! Maybe I don't have blue cruise activated on my vehicle, which is strange because we've only had it for a week and it was just built in the 5/30 build group. I'll check the settings to verify.
To add to the chorus, I have your trim and my car was built in April 2022. I've had true hands free BC engage without interruptions for 20 miles+ in NH. So I suspect it might be what others have said, not mapped and over 80mph. I'm usually at 70-75mph.

The secondary or intermediary level of BC is annoying as hell. It kicks in on most backroads and rural state routes and I feel like I'm fighting with the car. I disable BC entirely unless I'm taking a highway drive that is over 30 or 40 miles or if I'm really tired and driving late. At this point of development, I will not be renewing BC when my current trial ends.

I feel like there are two kinds of blue cruise (agree with confusing branding, above).

1. Blue cruise on city streets where I have to keep my hands on the wheel, and the screen shows hands on the wheel.
2. Blue cruise on the freeway where screen says "hands free".

Some of the freeways I drive on for work using "hands free blue cruise" regularly work in the mornings on my way to work and don't work in the afternoons on the way home. I believe this is due to the angle of the sun glinting off the road (afternoon drive is into the sun) and really poor paint on the freeway surface. I don't think I've ever tried blue cruise over about 75 mph, so cannot comment if there is an upper limit.

Right. Blue Cruise does NOT mean hand-free driving. Blue Cruise means assisted driving and sometimes it can be in hands-free mode. The display in the instrument cluster clearly displays hands on the steering wheel when you are not in hands-free mode.

I use hands-free routinely at 80mph.

Right. Blue Cruise does NOT mean hand-free driving. Blue Cruise means assisted driving and sometimes it can be in hands-free mode.
Really? The Ford.com description says it is hand-free. Even goes on to say it builds on Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering, Stop and Go and Speed sign recognition yet stops short of calling that technology BlueCruise.
My brother's Select has ACC and LKA/LC but no eye nanny camera. Does he have BlueCruise? I would say not. ???

Yes, I have BC on my vehicle (we just picked up the car last week). Heres a better photo showing the BC engaged.

No. You don’t have BlueCruise Handsfree engaged:
  • Notice how the IP isn’t shaded blue
  • You’re going over 80 MPH. BlueCruise Handsfree does not work over 80 MPH

I wonder why Ford is even developing BlueCruise Handsfree. About 80% of the freeway traffic around here drives well over 80 mph. Asking them to slow down so they can use that feature would create a revolt for sure. Does the GM system have a speed limit too?

Wow, didn’t know there was a speed limit. I usually set it to 75 on Freeway.
How do you “turn off blue Cruise “ with out cancelling lane keep with cruise control?

I guess what I meant was, that in the Mach-E & F-150, Blue Cruise is either hands-free or hands-on. They rebranded it. The Select does not have Blue Cruise -- it doesn't have the eye nanny camera, they use the term Co-Pilot 360 2. The reason I say this is because the minute I turn cruise control on, it says Blue Cruise is on. Regardless if I'm on a mapped highway or not. The car display will then switch between hands-on and hands-off depending on where I am.

Now, I could be wrong, their messaging is confusing. It may have been clearer if they started with Blue Cruise from the very beginning insgtead of switching names in the middle.

Yeah, I'm one of those driving 80mph around here w/ my Blue Cruise. Use it all the time. I can give you a ride sometime if you haven't seen it first hand.

I think the last few posts kinda perfectly demonstrate what a confusing cluster “BlueCruise” nomenclature has become.

“So are you talking hands-free BlueCruise or hands-on BlueCruise?” LOL. Here’s an idea: only the hands-free should be called BlueCruise, exactly as Ford did for over a year. The other is CoPilot360. Or if that’s too much of a mouthful, call it BB8 Bubble.

That makes sense. Confusing though. I don't remember seeing anything that says BC is on. Is that the little blue icon between the Ready sign and the odometer?

I have driven hands free a few times already in other vehicles. Underwhelmed. Just got it working in my car today and used it on the way home. Very disappointing that it now will only track down the dead center of the lane. I will try and turn off hands free tomorrow and see if it will let me use regular ACC with LKA/LC and track where I prefer in the lane. Crossing fingers....

If you feel like watching a video that shows you the difference between BlueCruise (hands free - screen turns all blue) and normal adaptive cruise control with lane centering (just a blue bubble around the car icon on center panel with no all blue screen). MachE Vlog put this one up after their car was updated.

If I do have BC activated, and I drive with one hand on top of steering wheel, my arm sometimes blocks the camera(s) to my eyes and vehicle thinks I am not watching road and will disengage BC. If the angle of your arm(s) block the camera, you may get the constant beep to watch road and take control of the car.
