Well, hands-free Bluecruise worked fine today (after Thursday's failure). I did two 50-mile drives with long stretches of hands-free and it behaved normally. I'm happy to have it back, but there's definitely an annoying reliability problem that I'm not sure how to debug.
Guessing the roadway was much less congested today compared to Thursday. Is that correct?

Actually no, yesterday (when I reported this) the traffic was way worse than we had expected. We went through Boston from North Shore to South Shore and it was busy, stop-and-go at times. Same with the drive back. As far as I can tell, BC availability doesn’t seem dependent on traffic congestion. On one of the drives it disengaged pretty clearly due to sun glare (straight on setting sun where I needed the visor) and immediately reengaged when we entered into shade.

I drove another 50 miles today with Bluecruise active the whole way.

The one common factor between you, me, and my husband’s Mach E is we’re all in the Boston area. Are there some Blue Cruise gremlins that only exist in New England?

Okay. Interesting for sure.
I drove with BCHF enabled most of the way to Tucson and back (120 miles each way). That was unusual for it to remain engaged that long compared to driving in the metro area. The difference is the traffic in metro Phoenix is much heavier usually. As far as I can tell. BCHF is less stable in heavy traffic and more stable on road trips.

I suspect the BlueCruise irregular performance might be related to the Front Camera and Pre-Collision Assist failures that I am experiencing. Leaning towards software problems vs a hardware issue at the moment.

Yeah this is pretty interesting. Hard to
Know if it’s just coincidence, or maybe there’s a flaky server supporting this region? I don’t know. Or maybe something to do with the maps in this region?? No idea.

I’ve noticed (or maybe wondered) if traffic makes it unstable in the sense that it has a harder time staying centered in the lane. It definitely makes me more nervous at times.

As far as BC disengaging temporarily,
so far my experience is that it disengages based on maps (where a map dictates that BC disengages because of certain merges or tight turns, etc) or because it can’t see the lane markers (they’re worn, or sun glare, or maybe snow/etc covering them). I’m okay with that for the most part, though occasionally I’m unclear on what the reason is.

I have mostly had it fail to go hands free on 128, but that’s probably just because that’s the highway I drive the most.

My first failure was on 128. Beverly to Bedford at 5pm worked great. Bedford to Beverly at 8pm….. no luck.

Second failure began way up in West Lebanon NH (after DC charging) and was “hands on” all the way to Beverly.

It does seem to be random. Maybe some of the @Ford Motor Company employees on here can offer some insight as to why it stays hands on some days. I’ve always anthropomorphized my Mach-E, so I just assume it’s not in the mood to drive and wants me to do it. ?

Are you saying BlueCruise Hands-Free drops out into BlueCruise Hands On and doesn't revert back after a mile or two? Or are you saying Blue Cruise quits completely and you are left with just cruise control and Lane Keeping Assist (no Lane Centering)?

BlueCruise Hands Free doesn't remain engaged for the entire time, even though the car might be on a BC highway. It will drop out frequently. At least it does in my car. This afternoon it kept displaying the "Watch the road " message even though I was watching and even steering. ???

It really isn't that dependable to be honest. BCHF will drop when hitting bumps in the road, along gore points, entering tunnels, changing freeways etc.

For me, it usually comes back after a minute or two. I just completed a 40 mile round trip on all BC enabled roads and BCHF functioned about 75% of the time (in my estimation....)
I have almost 20K miles on my car and most of it is driving the same route to work and back. I know before the car does when BC is going to disengage. Randomly the BC just will not engage for my entire trip to or from work. Yesterday was the first time that it worked when I got into the car and then it no longer worked about half way home. To be honest the ICC works almost as well and yells at you less often. Unless something changes drastically with BC I know I'm not paying any monthly or yearly fee.

This happens to me occasionally. No amount of rebooting helps. The only way to get it to come back is let the car sit off for a while and then it seems to come back next time I drive.
Same for me

If only there was some way for Ford to know that it has issues. I felt a little better about my Mach E's issues after I rode in my friends Model Y Sunday and he couldn't get the car to stop telling him that the frunk and the trunk were open, even though they obviously weren't, lol.
