I haven't seen that about 240v outlets. What problems have there been?
Over time, the receptacle can become weak and be a potential fire hazard. Most people recommend going with a commercial grade 14-50 outlet if you're not going to hardwire or if you are removing the charger on a regular basis.

So my parking assist isn't working and I read about how the hardware was not installed on some cars. I press the button and the parking assistant does not come up. The dealer is just stumped. Not a single person in there knew what I was talking about. I don't understand how they don't know about this issue. I won't name the dealer but I had to show them in the car by pressing the button, and comparing the screen I get to the one on youtube.

They said they would get back to me and get it squared away but no contact just yet.

Parking assist doesn't park your car anymore, but it should pull up a map with places to park.

Your car doesn't have this feature.

The Mach-E J1772 port maxes out at 32amp. That provides you with 7 point something of kw input. Going larger will only push your input to 8kw.

The Cost of a good 32amp home charger is around $200, some a bit cheaper. A 40 or 42 amp home charger will run you twice that. Anything higher than 42amp must be hard wired,

So unless you have another EV that will use the higher charge rates from a 40amp or larger home charger, save the money.

I bought a Shockflo 32amp for $219 from Amazon as it had 4.25 stars. Been very happy with it. It does not have an app to track charging or ability to connect via wifi. Those features will cost you.
Your understanding is flawed. Mach-E max AC charge rate is 48amps, which is 11.5kW from the wall and around 10.7 to the car. A 48amp hardwired charger provides this.

As to cost, some utilities sell discounted chargers or provide a rebate. I got $500 x 2 chargers.

Then there is a 30% tax credit for wiring and charger.

Too bad you didn't know this before spending your money.

When the J1772 connector was first developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), its main objective was to establish a universal charging standard for electric vehicles (EVs). The SAE J1772 connector history dates back to 2001 with its adoption by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) as the initial standard for electric vehicle (EV) charging. Avcon introduced a rectangular connector at that time, capable of supporting 6.6 kW power delivery. Fast forward to 2008, and CARB proposed an upgraded design by Yazaki, which could handle up to 19.2 kW of power. This new connector, known as SAE J1772-2009, garnered significant support within the industry and was subsequently integrated into the international IEC 62196-2 standard.

Here's the link to where that info came from.

And when my 48A Wallbox Plus is charging my Mach-E at 11.1kW (according to the app they provide) I just smile and know that I made the right decision.

I'm getting $300 back on the install from tax credits. I didn't find any rebates from Dominion Energy for my area.

All in all, my setup works and I kept more money in my pocket. Since it looks like Biden is pushing more EVs, there will be more incentives for them and related equipment. And the equipment will get cheaper because of competition. If needed, I'll upgrade.

Oh and your approach towards my post is very similar to the trolls on social media. One of the reasons I stay away from it. Keep it up and you'll have this forum all to yourself. Great job.

I just bought the fitcamx and hope the dealer will install it for free. They drove me to another lot, to pick up a car someone transferred. Any advice on home chargers? Or anything else I should get. I'm also planning on getting that sunscreen for the roof. My wife will not like all that light coming in

I would avoid using a grizzly charger, partly because my experience was poor but partly also because it's a plug-in unit and some folks feel that a hardwired unit is safest.

We ended up purchasing a Tesla universal for future proofing purposes. So far it has been spectacular.

Yes you're right. I've been thinking about it and brought that up to the wife. I would have to use an extension cord too.

So can I get the parking assistant stuff installed at the dealer or does my 2023 just not come with it anymore? Another 2023 he showed us had it.

I used the park assist once. It's so slow I found it dangerous, other cars zipped around as mine was going through the process. I wouldn't worry about having it or not myself.

ok ty. that seems to be the consensus. I'll mansplain that to my wife. I didnt think I would like using it.

What do you think of the driver assist features. It's pretty cool but I also feel like it can be dangerous relying on it, and becoming lazy.

I'd say it's assistance, not replacement. Never rely on assistance, just hope it helps.

It doesn't pretend to be "full self driving".

Exactly how I told my wife. Driver assistance. Elon was always a big exaggerator. I'm a programmer. I know how hard a "full self driving" car would be to implement. I would never trust it.

Whoa, did not know Mach-E had the range extender add-on like Cybertruck! Very cool. Does the extra battery pack go in the trunk somewhere? Or the frunk? Fascinating!
