Can I run two different widths on my front wheels?

I have a staggered set up on my GTPE.

CURVA C300 wheels

Front: 255/45/r20 on 20x9.5

Rear: 295/40/r20 on 20x10.5

I’ve loved my set up. Had it on my premium ‘21 so I powder coated them and transferred to my ‘24 GTPE (bronze package). I hit a rock in the road yesterday and it broke my FRONT wheel. I cannot find this wheel anywhere. I believe the specific size has been discontinued (20x9.5). If I found a 20x9, could that work or am I breaking all wheel rules? Just trying to avoid 4 new wheels. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Dang, that sucks!

I cannot imagine that this would be ok for anything more than limited use at moderate speeds (think compact spare usage). Why not replace both front wheels with a matching size? I don’t see why you’d need to replace all four wheels.

You have a few options.
You could repair your wheel.
Buy two of the same size.
Get a new wheel custom built by the factory.
Re-rim a new wheel to match your size.

-Looked into repairing. Just got word that it’s “twisted” and not repairable.
-The wheel in that size appears to be discontinued as far as I can tell. I need to look closely and see if they have any 20” versions still being sold that will fit my tires (ideally). Other issue is I had them powder coated after taking them off my ‘21 so I’d have to do that in order to match them. May be less expensive to get 4 new ones already in bronze.
-I know nothing about getting a wheel custom built. Worth looking into.

Wow!

How big was the rock?

I’ve never broken a rim ever.

I would contact Curva and tell them what you need. Heck, they may have one stuck in a warehouse somewhere or some in transit. Can't hurt to ask

That was my thought. I sent an email today. I’ll call tomorrow and see what they say.

Because the wheels appear to be discontinued and unavailable. Seems like it would be odd to have different wheels in the front than the back. When I say different size, I’m referring to width only. It would still be 20”. I’m actually looking into repair options. There’s a wheel shop nearby that thinks they can fix it. Fingers crossed.

I have found the flow forged version of my wheel, the CFF300 in a 20”x8.5” instead of my 9.5”. I’m hoping some of the gurus here can guide me. It’s my understanding that my tires will fit nicely on an 8.5” width. If so I will buy two of them to replace my two front wheels. I don’t imagine having the flow forged in from and cast in the rear of the same wheel should be an issue. ?

Can someone tell me which of these options I want? I know little about offset.

20x8.5 5x108 38mm 63.4mm

20x8.5 5X108 +38mm 73.1mm

The offset listed on both of those wheels above is 38. The offset on the OEM wheels are 47.5. This means the with a 38 offset the wheel will come out a bit further than the OEM wheel did. I don't know what the offset is of your rear wheels to know if the front ones will come out more or less in relationship to the rears. Out of curiosity, are there any other offsets for that wheel besides 38? As far as the wheel bore, you definitely want the one that is 63.4mm which is the proper size for the Mach-E.

Thank you for this. I was just putting a message together to ask you specifically. You’ve helped me in the past. I do have a little poke front and rear and I kind of like it. Knowing I need the 63.4 is what I need to know I think. I’ll check to see if I can find any other offsets. I think I saw some options, but I like the poke of a wider wheel. This is one link for the wheel. I’d have to look for another with different offsets.
Any reason you can see why these would be an issue with my 255/45 tires? 8.5 width is fine?

Those wheels and offset is fine now that I know you have a bit of poke and you like it. These won't be much different than you have now. Just make sure the center bore is 63.4. If it is not, you can use a centering ring but I don't like using them. Would prefer the wheel has the proper bore size to begin with. Yes, 8.5" wide wheel is perfect for 255's.

You’re a life saver. I think this is everything I needed. I couldn’t find any other offsets so I’m going with this. What a mess and an expensive rock. Thanks again. Hopefully it all works out. Looks like we’re on the right track.
