Yes. It was a new program in my area offered by the electric company. I guess I learned my lesson. Ford roadside wants $95 to come jump it. The car is less than a year old. Is that normal? Once they jump it will it charge at that point?
Oh nevermind that's probably your problem -- and it might be a mess, you'll probably have to change your FordPass password to cut off the power company from causing pings to your car.

They don't "jump it". They have to use the bumper port to get to the 12v battery in the frunk. Then they have to CHARGE, not jump, the 12V battery enough to get the car to start.

Then, as @generaltso, indicates, the 12v may or may not charge up. You would need a meter to see if it is doing that.

But - if you gave your utility company your FordPass logon info, you need to change that password now. If you plugged in an OBD device from them, you need to remove it. If you did neither, then your TOU plan has nothing to do with your issue...

As soon as they get the car on I will remove my car from the NY smart charge program. There’s an option to change it to the charger instead of the car to control TOU which apparently is what I should’ve done.

BTW it is pretty interesting that Hyundai diagnosed and realized this same problem with its Ioniq 5 and put a rate limit on server pings per hour for its cars, and they also cut off particular third party apps they knew were misbehaving. Hyundai found that some apps were causing thousands of pings an hour to its cars and their LVB charging routine could not keep up with the drain.

Pretty sad that, after 2+ years of the same thing happening to Mach-Es, that no one at Ford has figured out how to limit server pings.

Correct. And, if they kept tapping in, Ford would have locked you out of FordPass. Has to be an approved program with Ford, like mine is in Michigan, not using a 3rd party to access the car.

This might not fix the problem, as you have to prevent that utility backend server from pinging Ford (which wakes up your car). One of the ways of doing this is to change your password, because in most identity systems, this will revoke the access when you change your FordPass password.

I've read on this forum that Ford sometimes cuts off FordPass accounts when they ping the car too many times, so I hope this hasn't happened to you.

I'm amazed at all these utilities that ping the car how often they are checking in, like how much do you have to wake up the car to know what time it is?

12 V battery. I am getting the drain messages also and it is when the car connects to my WiFi. Something in the onboard charging code is not right.

They’re sending some random towing company to come deal with the battery. Crossing my fingers that they know what they’re doing. I just changed my Ford pass password. I don’t recall if the app for the smart charge program ever asked for it.

I'm amazed that Ford wouldn't think to prevent its servers from contacting the car so many times... Seems like someone has to write 10 lines of code somewhere to fix this.

They won't know what they are doing at all -- you should google how to pop the frunk and get to the battery leads.

The only way they can get access is either through Ford (like my utility company does), or through the API, using your credentials. They use Smartcar, which accesses via your credentials.

I sent them an email to revoke access as apparently there’s no way to do it in the app. The company is ev.energy
