...especially considering we aren’t getting an EV tax credit - a used car purchase in ‘23 requires a placed in service date in ‘21 and a purchase price under $25k! Who knew - we didn’t.
When I read the way you wrote this I too was confused.

First I'm thinking it is totally understandable to not know the details of this EV tax credit unless you knew about it and expected to use it *prior* to electing to buy the car. Then yes a quick Google search would reveal that. But I am guessing you only found out *after* buying the car and then were disappointed once you did your Google search. I would be too. Makes sense.

And, I mean heck nobody ever gave folks a tax break for buying a *used* EV before, and now I guess it has only existed for a couple of months. So likely near zero people know about it except for EV enthusiasts on internet forums like us.

But the used EV credit is of course designed so folks who are NOT wealthy can soon someday get an EV at a price that is not insanely expensive. And after a decade of providing wealthy folks with help buying brand new expensive luxury EV cars with taxpayer money via the EV tax credit, to try to reduce that "waste" just a bit.

So, yep, the car has to actually be used for real, e.g. have been used for 2 years before the credit can be applied, not just 2 months and flipped, AND the car has to have a price that isn't crazy expensive, below $25k, and the buyers cannot be in the very top 5% of earners of the USA, etc.

So the Used Ev tax credit actually makes sense as written, given its goal.

Yep, getting a tax break was not a “deal breaker” for us. We’d been looking for a replacement car for 2 years - wanting style, fuel efficiency, comfortable seats, and not having to wait another year for pick-up. When we saw our red ‘22 MME Select with low miles, we fell in love. Getting the tax break would have been sweet but was not required.

It was a disappointment not to get the used car tax break but it was always in the back of our minds, not a deal breaker. I guess there aren’t too many MME’s on the market for under $25k though, so I guess there won’t be many owners getting that benefit.

I'm scheduled to install 4.2.5 (just realized the scheduler skips Fri-Sun, no biggie, I'll change it tomorrow).
I find really perplexing that they push out updates to different cars at different times.

So can anyone tell me what the latest OTA version is? My ‘22 MME Select just updated to 4.2.3.

Also, I go into Ford Pass where I’m supposed to read details of the update but it’s an overview with little substance. Especially the details about the changes to Apple Car Play.

Are we just supposed to play around with the settings? Is information about OTA changes always this sketchy - this is the second one I’ve gotten since purchase.
The tax rebate thing can be maddening. When I bought mine, new, in '21 I was counting on federal and state rebates. By the time mine was delivered the state fund was out of money and I was out of luck. I had, incorrectly, assumed that there wasn't a fixed total to the rebates they were handing out.

I have complained to Ford about them removing functionality from my Mach E GTPE. I have been back to the dealer several times trying to get them to backdate the update, so I have my Tire Pressures Radio station phone etc. at a glance. My Ranger and New Escape have these features and so did the Mach E when it was purchased. I don’t know why Ford thinks it is OK to remove features that were on the car when it was purchased. I asked the last customer service rep “ So if you buy a furnished home and 6 months after your purchase a moving crew shows up and removes key items from the home how would you feel?”

So, does anyone have any idea of when we might see the “Cards” again on the Mach e?

Rant over…

You still have the cards, you're just going to have to "press" them to get the information you might have gleaned prior to the UI change. This update gave a bit more screen room for the main portion of the sync screen. You have a lot of company if you're asking for the cards to still have the option for the bigger cards in the original UI. Unfortunately, I personally don't see them switching back anytime soon.

The old UI had the option of making the map larger or smaller or whatever you had displayed. My point is that Ford made the car less safe, making the driver have to remove their hands from the wheel multiple times in a trip instead of just glancing. Georgia has a lemon law and one more trip back to the dealer without them getting the Safety Issue Resolved will let me enact it. Then it will go to arbitration with Ford and they will have to buy the car back if they will not revert to my software to remedy the Safety issue.

I have been a Ford Guy since 1984 when I purchased my first dully truck. I don’t get it when my 2023 ford Escape and 2022 Ranger both have this and the top of the line car had it when purchased and now it does not.

Thanks for the impute.

You just got that update?
We have been debating the change for at least 6 months now.

And it sounds like I don't want this update.

The new interface is far better. IMO, the lost info on the cards is minor compared to being able to use the physical knob to change temperature and heated seat level. Plus we got persistent buttons for some HVAC functions.

Far more pluses than minuses. When I got my Lightning in January with the new interface, I immediately took the Mach-E to my dealer and had them update it to match.

Perhaps it is "better", but all of that sounds incredibly trivial. Especially for those of us who never heat the seats, and almost never change HVAC settings.

I have to agree with Weezy on this one. I don't want any of the recent updates, and will not accept them. They have caused a lot of weird mechanical and operational problems that far outweigh any little improvements in the UI. If they ever get to a good, stable software version with meaningful improvements, maybe I'll get that one. Meanwhile, 3.5.2 works fine for me.

While I always prefer having options and personalization choices, I do agree that the newer one is better overall. The shame about it is that it really appears that there is space, even on the smaller cards, for most of the information that people are missing, to be included. But then there would likely be complaints about font size...

This has been noted elsewhere in the forum.

Ford has not given any indication that the cards with useful information will ever come back. I wouldn’t count on it.
I have spent multiple hours on the phone with Ford and taken my car to two different dealers trying to get the OS returned to the original like I purchased. My problem is that every other Ford I have, including others with the Sync 4 you can see multiple things on the main screen but with the Mach E you can only see one and it has the largest screen. I feel I have been robbed because when I purchased the car it had this feature, and they took it away. That to me just does not sit well. I am currently exploring a DVL and if that does not work, I will move to the Buy Back Program.

Yeah, removing the useful cards was a big step backwards in my opinion.
