Changing Color on Existing Order

Has anyone made a color change to their order? I’m 20+ weeks in with no scheduled production date. I’d like to change my color selection but not at the expense of losing my place in the (long) line. Is this something the dealership could do without delaying the order or am I stuck with my original color choice?

I think changes can be made as long as you don’t have a production date. Make sure dealerships keeps your priority code after the change or gives a better one. Then I would call Ford to confirm everything. Good luck! Let us know how it goes,

We changed the color of the interior on ours last week. We hadn't seen the grey interior in person. One showed up and the wife didn't like it. Salesman said we wouldn't lose price protection or our place in line. That would only happen if you change the body code or battery size.

FWIW, I had the dealer change color for me. Now, I see online “order cancelled” where I used to see my order. Dealer says order still exists. Person #3 (#1&2 pretty useless) at Ford Customer service says it exists. I just can’t see my order anymore.

Color can be changed right up until it's locked in for production, even if you've received a build date and VIN. Exterior color change usually does not delay an order (unless it's a late availability option). Your timestamp and price protection does not change because of a color change. Just let the dealer know what color you want to change to.

For reference Locked In is when it's sent to plant in Ford parlance. There are instances if you're too close to the build date, usually within a week of the build date, that it can't be changed. Also, if it just scheduled that day, it can't be changed until a few days later. Your dealer will let you know if those situations apply.

I changed mine before receiving a production date and it didn't make any difference. I also changed the wheels

Thanks all. I will call the dealer tomorrow and have them make the change. Seems doable with minimal risk.

Rapid Red to something bedsides Rapid Red. We just got a new Toyota RAV4 Prime as our 2nd SUV, and we chose Supersonic Red. I don’t want to have two red SUV’s. Apparently I gravitate to red though.
