That would be the same whether in Unbridled and 1PD or not.

And while I'm not 100% sure, I don't think that's actually max regen either. I think it's just a plateau in the display calculation (50 km/kHh). I get that number a lot coming down from the mountains. But it's relatively gentle regen force relative to coming off the highway from 75 MPH to 0 at an off-ramp. My assumption for max regen is where the Brake Coach is just about to drop below 100%. Usually on an off-ramp. That much stronger slowing force than a gentle slowing to stay at 65 MPH coming down a 6% mountain grade.
max regen is right around 100kW.... until batteries are full

methods of obtaining regen all produce the same result. N is the only way to NOT get any regen and waste energy with mechanical braking.

I find 'adaptive cruise control' to be the easiest on long mountain drives (up and down); I generally want to go faster than most people, and adaptive does a pretty good job maintaining safe distance between me and the car in front once I catch up to them.... cuts down on my frustration and urge to tailgate. ;)

You don't regen in neutral. You'll just coast.
So, this may just be a software glitch, but I've tested stopping in neutral VS in Drive to see if the braking feels different (it doesn't) and while in neutral, the braking coach still pops up and gives you a regen score.

Is it confirmed somewhere by Ford that you don't regen in neutral or is this just an assumption?

It's quite obvious if you have the window down. You can hear the pads scrape on the rotors when they engage. The Brake Coach score just rates how smoothly you came to a stop, not how much regen was used.

Adaptive cruise control is the only way to check my high speed highway runs. The car told me to pull over and charge immediately, I would not make my charger destination, on my very first road trip.. I pulled into the slowlane, set Bluecruise, and made it with 14% SOC. Range anxiety? Nah. Haha.

Would the L button be any different than driving with one pedal in unbridled? I get a lot of regen just driving normally that way.
IIRC, reverberation in 1PD Unbridle is the same as L.

That's the only way you WON'T capture regen going downhill.

You won't capture any extra putting it in L gear either. Or 1PD. All drive modes capture regen going downhill. So does the brake pedal. So does cruise control.
Yep. Cruise will do a great job for this. For
@Kamuelaflyer, what you are describing is a normal day of driving Otto.

I went from 49 percent to 51 percent SOC on a trip down Mt. Tam earlier this year. Whisper, two pedal.

Coasting in neutral then hitting the brakes is also how people clean off their brake pads when rusty or sticking.

It’s the only way to guarantee no regen and you will use the brakes only.

I drive free or nearly free leaving home. Off to the grocery store? Net gain of 1 to 2% soc. Down to Kona (50 miles)? 6% loss is all. Don’t ask about the return trip though. Mountains are funny that way.

Just wondering if putting the Mache in Neutral going down a mountain will charge the car?
I would use one pedal drive for that and add a push on the "L" when needed for a bit more regen, that's really what the L is designed for, to add a bit more.

Thank you for the good response. I'll have to try and listen for the difference next time.

Long/steep downhill driving is when the multiple levels of regen and paddle shifters in the EV6 really came in handy.
