The Brake Coach score just rates how smoothly you came to a stop, not how much regen was used.
I had no idea. I never looked into this and honestly thought it was rating the level of regen captured. Thank you for pointing this out!

Is this documented somewhere (that it's not an indicator of regen used, i.e. friction brakes starting to kick in)? It always seemed logical to me that 100% meant you're only using regen to slow you down. And that any number below 100% means it's having to start supplementing with friction brakes (the lower the score, the more friction supplemented).

Not sure if it’s documented, but it’s easy to test. Do different levels of stopping with the car in Neutral and you’ll see the score changing even though it’s using the friction brakes.

I swear, only this forum could take a simple question that was answered in post #2 and turn it into 3 pages... ?

As I would expect, if it's doing what I'm thinking. The bigger question is do you ever hear the friction brakes kicking in when BC is displaying 100%?

Yeah, we’re slipping up. Back in the day we’d be on page 37 by now. Thanks for pointing this out, we’ll try harder now. ;)

Yes.

When you put it in neutral and hit the brakes.

I am contemplating driving up to Pikes Peak then regen on the way down in unbridled mode. Anyone think I may need to engage the L gear?

Pretty sure unbridled and the L are around the same amount of regen without touching the brake pedal if in 1PD.

From a person that doesn't normally like 1PD driving, descending down a mountain would be the perfect time for 1PD driving. Gotta slow down for curves which cruise control wouldn't do so well with.

I've learned to use 1PD but really do not like it, so don't use it much. Just feels like much of the time I'm pushing the car toward a stop just to regen. I like using it when exiting the freeway to slow from over 60-65 to 40 mph.
Regardless, I may engage descending the mountain.
Thanks all.

Does regen work at all when in neutral?

I suspect doing the test in neutral invalidates the whole test for how regen works when in gear.

I prefer 2PD as well, but I do like some regen slowing when letting up on the accelerator pedal. So I drive in Whisper + L gear 100% of the time. To me that's the perfect combination for 2-pedal driving.

I still like creep regulated with the brake pedal, especially in my garage and parking lots.
