Yes let's agree to disagree.

I don't charge daily to 100%.
Once a week is all I need to charge to 100%.

Plus with a 8 year HV battery warranty, I am not worried.

My 3rd EV and have never had to exercise the battery warranty yet...
We're agreeing more than disagreeing. I expect very few will degrade their batteries to the point of being eligible for a warranty claim. And once a week charging to 100% is very different than having it sit on the charger at 100% most of the time.

Retired. I'd say it was a mid life crisis, but not many people live to 140.

Read all this and still feel unresolved.

?

Charging to 90% just because, apparently.

Looking for the 90% charge limit recommendation as I remember seeing it somewhere. Now though, when looking in the manual I see this:

Overnight Charging
You can increase the longevity and performance of your high voltage battery by using the charge scheduling and departure and comfort settings on your touchscreen or in the FordPass app.
With charge scheduling, you can improve the high voltage battery's longevity by delaying the start of charging and setting a maximum charging limit. Set your preferred charging times to be at least 2-3 hours after your typical plug in time. This allows the battery to cool before charging begins. Additionally, setting the maximum charge level to be less than 100% for everyday usage reduces strain on the battery.

Seems all other manufacturers recommend charging to 80%, but Ford did say 90%. Now they say "eh, just don't charge to 100% every day, we think". ?

Anyone else kinda confused by this?
In case no one posted the link, here's ford's page on 90% charge info https://www.ford.com/mustang/ev-cha...commends setting the, again to save your edits.

To be fair, I VERY often charge to 100% but NEVER unnecessarily charge to 100% or I wouldn’t charge to 100% because that would be unnecessary ?

Even after ‘reset’ it still shows 271. I’m at 93.5 soh
Where do you read SOH?

If you’re just calculating based on the estimated range vs EPA rating, that’s definitely not how it works.

You could be at 100% SOH, reset everything and it won’t show EPA range if it’s cold outside.

Home charging is 90% SOC just because that's what the nice woman in the FordPass video orientations said to do.

I think this just proves my theory.

What’s more likely?

You are losing 1% capacity in a day.

or

There are other factors (like temperature) that are affecting the readings.

There is also option 3- SOH is just another inexact measurement in our cars and more of just an estimate based on many things.

Should we rename it- “Guess-o-state-of-health?” ?

Hmm...my 4cyl ICE went from 40mpg to 38mpg after 100k miles. Does that mean my engine's SoH dropped to 95%? Seriously, this debate is as long running as EVs of all types. Plug and drive (not at the same time by the way). In the end, the minor change that results from regular use during the battery warranty period should be minimal at best, short of a design flaw (Nissan, I'm looking at you for those 2011 and 2012 cells...).

apple can do this with the iPhone, tell you the maximum capacity in the settings.

I think cars should be required to show this, exactly as they are required to show the amount of miles on the engine. As is the case with these EVs, miles on the car just don't mean much anymore.

Fair point.

I had this question a while ago. Warranty covers 70% SOH but no easy way for us know know how close we are.
