Hello everyone. Just got my 2023 space white Mach E GT AWD. I love it!! Just wondering if anybody is charging it more than 80% on the regular. Thanks.
No. Sticking with 80 pct and its working out since I only charge twice a month. If taking a trip will do 100%. Wifes model why gives 90% with 312 miles which is good for three weeks or more.

For my 21 Job 1 Ford never recommended a specific charge level that we should charge to. They documented a maximum for daily use. People keep saying Ford recommends 90% for daily use but that’s not what it says. It says no more than 90%. Could be anything less than 90%.

I set my MME to stop charging at 90% and charge it a couple of nights/week based on what the manual states. I guess I'm doing it wrong.

I I charge to 100% but not every time usually when I'm at home I would never charge to 100% on a fast charger at 10 not to use it all too much heat.

The inaccessible buffers on the battery take up space at the top and bottom ends of State of Charge. I charge to 85% indicated, which is approximately 80% actual capacity. 90% indicated is about 84% actual, which won’t hurt the battery. ??

80% is more than enough for my work days. I do charge every day. When I have over 100 miles, i fully charge to 100%, one to two times per month. I use a ChargePointe direct wired to my breaker panel. Keep the Ford in the car for road trips.

Pretty clearly says "setting the maximum state of charge to 90%". I don't see "no more".

Beat me to it, as usual Rick :)

I charge to 90% every day, assuming I’m home with less than about 75% SoC. Also depends on what I’m up to the next day.

Maximum means at the most, no more.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Charging more than 80% regularly? IMG_4050

But my point is that people are saying ’Ford recommends charging to 90%’ and Ford doesn’t say that. Ford doesn’t say ‘you SHOULD charge all the way to 90% daily’. What we should say is that Ford recommends limiting charging to a maximum of 90% for daily use.

When Ford says you should limit your daily charge to at most (maximum) 90%, Ford is setting the recommended daily upper boundary. They don’t define the daily lower boundary. Though the minimum setting in the charge menu seems to be 50%. So I guess one could interpret that to mean if charging go to somewhere between 50% and 90%.

manual quote a threshold for ac charging however on their FAQ at least since I got my car in may 21 it does.

"
"WHAT CHARGE LEVEL SHOULD I SET MY VEHICLE TO?
For most Ford electric vehicles, the recommended charge level is 90%. Avoid charging to 100% when you don’t need that range, though 100% charge is recommended before beginning a longer trip."

Upper limit.

"Setting the" upper limit" to 90%.

On the Lightning, they set the default for DC fast charging to 90%, not 80%.

In some manuals, Ford says "less than 100%".

They also recommend leaving your vehicle plugged in.

People in general will never read manuals. They aren't going to follow a decision tree. They want simple. They want to be told what to do.

Charge to 90%, plugging in your vehicle every day.

Simple.
