Yep you can, it will max out at the Mach E's max charge rate of around 150kwh.

They communicate and the Mach E tells it what it can accept, and that's all it will push. I'd use the 150 if it's open because I think they charge more for the 350 charger.

Yes, you may and I usually do. During the initial part of the charging the Mach E will peak at about 165kW if you are on a 350kW charger. You will also get a bit more on the second charging plateau at a 350kW charger.

You may want to check the charging cost depending on where you are. If the charger costs are by the kWh, you are fine. If the charger costs are by the minute you should make sure the 350 and 150 have the same cost.

I have a question that I did not know which thread to ask it in so chose this one. I mainly charge my car at home with solar however, three times now I've had to charge while I was away. All three times the chargers I used were EVgo stations and they connected instantly and all went well. My question is, even though they were 200kW stations, each one only delivered a max of 49kW to the car. Why is the car not accepting a higher charge? All three times they were different stations in different cities

That's odd. The best thing would be to test it on an EA charger next (150 or 350kW) and see if it charges faster there. I haven't tried my Mach E on an EVgo yet and don't recall hearing about that problem on the Forum or FB.

Electrify America charges the same for the 150KW and 350Kw chargers, there is no difference. The only difference is if you are in a state that charges per minute, versus per KWh. The per minute rates are tiered based on maximum KW, so you could possibly end up higher on 350KW if the state uses per minute charging. But looking at the EA site for Georgia, as an example the higher per minute rate is effective at 90KW, so it would be no difference on the two chargers.

As I've posted elsewhere, there is a small increase in charging rate on 350kW EA chargers vs. 150kW chargers. I certainly wouldn't pay the difference in states where there is differential charging between the two -- the advantage is too small to be worth added cost. However, the initial peak on 350kW chargers reaches around 165kW and the next plateaus are slightly higher as well. I've compared and posted videos across 350 and 150kW chargers of the same brand at the same EA station.

You also shouldn't go out of your way to use a 350 over a 150. The time saved is only a couple of minutes over a full 1/2 hour charging session. It does result in significantly greater charge in a 10-minute zap and dash session, though.

Thanks Mark. I’ll try to locate an EA charger. EVgo and ChargePoint are the only ones I’ve seen. It will probably be awhile before the next time I have to charge away from home.
