I’m at an event in Millsoula MT. I have the opportunity to charge here and they have 50amp service. The NEMA plus fits but what I’d like to know is it safe to use with my Ford Mobile Box? If all fails I can use a 110v.

Thank you

If it is a proper NEMA 14-50 outlet (and circuit with 50A breaker), then you are fine to plug in.

This is the point of having a standardized set of outlet specifications. As long as the electrician installs according to code, you can tell by the outlet type.

All the RVs are using them. Would I get some sort of error or would the cat just explode ??

The car would not explode, there are various safety mechanisms built-in to prevent damaging the vehicle.
The Ford mobile EV is going to pull 32A on that circuit. I don't know how much power an RV will draw, but if it's ~32A, then there is no difference between you using Ford Mobile charger and what the RV is doing. There is no such thing as an outlet being EV-capable, it is just about the power draw.

The RV receptacle is literally called "50 Amp hookup" in the RV world.

That doesn't guarantee the RV pedestal is functioning properly though. They don't get treated with TLC by some percentage of campers.

RVs have either a 30A or 50A option. Pretty sure you are good to go with a 50A outlet. Many have reported using them.

I'm terrifically allergic to cats, but some folks are very attached to them. Your cautious approach will certainly be appreciated by some.

Yeah, I can't understand why a cat would explode if the OP plugs into a bad outlet, but hey, what do I know?
