Are you able to inquire as to the meaning of the various chimes? I presume they are standard across the entire vehicle lineup.

This morning when I kicked to open the liftgate......not a peep.
When I got to work I kicked to open the liftgate and I get the 6 chimes (3 groups of 2 chimes). This is the chime package that plays at random.

Both times when I pressed the button to close the liftgate, I hear the 9 chimes (3 groups of 3).

I noticed just this afternoon the triple-chime played repeatedly - I dunno 4 or 5 times - as I started up and backed out of the garage. I felt like the car was trying to tell me something, but have no idea what that might have been.

Edit: Maybe I was slow to fasten my seatbelt. The chimes seemed unusually persistent, but then again, I am not a very observant person. Seatbelt nag is the only chime mentioned in my owner's manual.

Hello, as far as backing up, it is for the safety of others as the car is silent otherwise. Just like when a truck backs up but the sound isn't as annoying.

NO CLUE. I'd love to know! Mine does this every single time (I think??).

Before closing the trunk? I'm assuming it's like this warning:

Anyone else think that means an obstruction or resistance to gate closing/opening? I remember that noise when I closed my trunk on a grocery bag once, and also when I opened it in an extremely low-clearance parking garage and banged into an overhead pipe () before it was fully open.

I believe, but have not verified, that the hatch makes a noise inside the car when opening and closing. If you're outside the car, and opening it, you may not hear it. I don't think it matters whether you use the fob, the button on the hatch, or the button on the center display.

Still getting this 6 chime sound intermittently (low-high, 3 times) when I open or close the rear hatch. It's a very different sound than the usual Donkey Kong-ish "hey I'm closing now" sound.

The only thing I can think of is it thinks somehow there's some obstruction, but that makes no sense when it opens (because it happens after the hatch is already fully open.)

As of a few weeks ago, about 75% of the time when I open my trunk it makes 3 chimes after it fully opens. No obstructions.

I’ve been getting this lately as well.

Never has a car with as many random chimes.

Mine chimes twice after driving down half the length of the parking ramp. Always in the same spot. I feel like he’s flirting with the neighbor’s blue Range Rover.

I’ve heard random chimes on two occasions when I parked. I just rotated the headlamps to off and back to auto and they went away for me both times. Worth a try if you haven’t.

Thank you! I've been having non-stop dinging whenever the door was open and this fixed it.
