Computer Display Screen Black?

I started the car and the computer screen was black/dead except for the backup camera. Turning it off when I reached my destination and back in didn’t help. Anything I am missing to fix this? Will be taking car to the dealer Tuesday anyway.

Reboot sync by using the down volume and right arrow at the same time until the main screen restarts.

Reboot should fix it, but just be aware this is a symptom of a OTA update. I got the failed to update alert like 1 minute after I rebooted. Could had been bad luck I guess, but I've just dealt with it. Try moving your brightness wheel down by your knee, that can sometimes get it working again.

When I restarted the car 4 hours after turning it off the screen turned on as normal. My car is a Job 1 so I’m not yet getting updates that don’t fail.

This just happen to me about an hour ago. Came out of Menards, hit the start button and the large screen was blank. Backup camera still worked, tried restarting with no success. Small screen still worked so I was able to drive home.

Sorry if I am not fully understanding what you are conveying. Where is this "down volume and right arrow" you speak of? Are you referring to the volume knob on the main screen in the car, or on my phone, or somewhere else???

Use the buttons on the steering wheel to perform the reboot. It will be the group of buttons by your right hand when holding the steering wheel on the sides.

On the right hand side of the steering wheel hold down the channel forward button and at the same time press the volume button/toggle down to - for 10 seconds

My screen has gone black twice, once at speed on the highway. There was no warning and no indication of how to get it back. Dealer reloaded some software after the first time but the blackout occurred again on the highway.

Display has also gone low contrast for no obvious reason but eventually came back to full contrast after sitting over night.

No temperature extremes involved. Basically room temperature.

Car is also not always associating key fob with a profile resulting in "Guest" status but with no ability to change to the appropriate profile.

Dealer seems indifferent suggesting the display isn't needed anyway.

When asked if these issues were reported somehow to Ford the dealer said no.

Disappointing....

So why is the screen provided? Your dealer is a ? How are you supposed to change settings, operate the HVAC system, use the Sat Nav, Use Carplay or Android Auto, see the view when reversing, change driving mode etc. What's up with these idiots?

I'm sure it must infringe some road safety regulations somehow. I'm not familiar with U.S. regs so correct me if I'm wrong.

You can do the SYNC screen reboot while driving. It’s fine. Nothing “bad” happens if you do.

Don't really expect wife to deal with such disruptions with 2 year old in the back seat while driving a $60,000 car at highway speed.
