So my 3 years of Connected Built-in Navi is expiring on 8/9/24. Is it worth the $80 for the year to renew it? Thanks!

Unless you regularly need to use battery preconditioning for DC fast charging, I would say no. Just use wireless Android Auto or CarPlay. Those will generally have a better experience anyways, especially once Android Auto gets the update to let it read the battery state of charge for route planning, CarPlay already has this.

After my three year trial I doubt I’ll update

The $800 typo in your headline certainly grabbed my attention!

I renewed mine four months ago. I like how the weather reports work in the built-in nav, and I wanted to retain access to charger station updates especially as access to the Tesla network has been coming online.

I also just prefer the look of the built-in nav over Google Maps. I prefer Google for actual trip navigation though, so I sort of use both.

I redeemed 16,000 FordPass Rewards points instead of paying $80.

I also renewed via FordPass points. I usually use Apple Maps via CarPlay but for road trips I use Ford Nav as Apple Maps doesn't do battery pre-conditioning and (as of today) doesn't include Tesla Superchargers in route planning.

I have never used mine. I just use Apple CarPlay with my iPhone.

I didn't know Ford would charge for GPS, until I got the message from Ford. That's something I thought was gone once I stopped driving a gas car.
No, I won't renew, I'll depend on another free GPS.

Fordpass points expire now in 2 years right? So most of us won't be able to use FordPass points to renew when the complimentary 3 years is up.

It's changing to 18 months soon, if you don't have their Visa card. Importantly though, as long as you have any activity with your points including buying a plastic clip at the dealer or using the Visa card, then that keeps all points preserved for another 18 or 24 months. From the FAQ:

Do FordPass Rewards Points expire?
Yes. FordPass Rewards Visa®†† cardholders receive an extended Points balance expire date. The member’s FordPass Rewards Points balance will expire after 24 months of no Points-earn, redemption, or Tier Activity. Their Points balance expire date will change to 18 months upon cancelation or termination of their FordPass Rewards Visa.
For FordPass Rewards members without a FordPass Rewards Visa, effective October 1, 2024, their FordPass Rewards Points balance will expire after 18 months of no Points-earn, redemption, or Tier Activity.
Points balance expiration is calculated based on the date of the last Points-earn, redemption, or Tier Activity as determined by Ford, not the day the transaction is reflected in a member’s FordPass Rewards account.
