Cracked Front Camera Lens

Hi. The subject explains it, horrible luck and it seems that a small rock on the highway jumped up and cracked my front camera lens during a recent roadtrip from Miami to AnnaMaria Island. The camera works fine but on the screen I see a big crack that makes it difficult to see certain areas of the camera view. No other issues.

Any idea to resolve this issue? I dont anticipate the lens can be replaced without taking apart front bumper

Wow, that is extremely bad luck. The size of the camera vs the entire footprint of the car has to be a million to one chance. This may be the very first thread I've seen on it.

I assume you're out of warranty, if the camera still works there's a "moulding" that might be what you need.

I had the exact same thing happen a few months ago. It got worse over time. The whole camera had to be replaced and the part was called the front park assist camera. The problem is the front bumper has to come off to replace the camera so I had my dealer do it.

The dealer didn’t align the new camera so I had to do the 360 alignment in FDRS after to get the camera view perfect again.

Yikes that is terrible. I just had to have the front bumper taken apart ($800) to fix the front camera fault issue. Horrible timing on this.

It was about $1000 canadian all in. But they also ordered and replaced a radar bracket that was broken behind the bumper at the same time. That was leading to other problems. If I remember right, the camera was about $250, the bracket was $45 and the rest was labour.

Wow! That was the second time I had the bracket replaced and I also have had the front SOD radar bracket replaced. Luckily those were warranty. I’m really not happy with the durability of this car. Seems just regular driving and speed bumps will bankrupt me.

Mine has a small scratch on it, probably a rock chip. Still works, but it's annoying. I am wondering what kind of material it is, as gorilla glass or equivalent should prevent most issues.

I just bought a new to me 2024 Mach-e Premium and the smudge on the screen is actually a chip on the front camera lens. Is this something that would be covered under warranty?
