I totally agree! It's a comprehensive motor vehicle loss in CA State. File a claim. It's not your fault. You'll need to identify where and when the damage occurred to the best of your knowledge. Unknown what struck vehicle. Even a piece of foam flying on the highway at high speeds could cause this blunt damage. Sucks... Car easy to fix... you much harder. You'll need to pay your deductible whatever that is. I keep mine low for these reasons. Comp is cheaper than collision! Cost of driving...Tell your insurance you were driving around 40 mph and heard something hit your car. You have no idea what. It will be a comprehensive claim. They won't raise you rates.
