I got in my car this morning and when I press the break in the start button I get this notice. I do not recognize the car symbol with the “!”. Car will not shift into gear. Doors and main touch display still working.

You probably didn't push the brake pedal hard enough. Is the green LED on the start button blinking? That indicates you are in accessory mode.

After going back inside and reading the forums for 20 min went back out to car and tried again and it started no problems ?‍.

I tried for 20 min starting stopping plugging in and unplugged, with brake without the break and nothing changed.

To properly start the car, you must fully depress the brake pedal, then push the button. If you don't, then it goes into accessory accessory mode, requiring you to stop the car, then depress the brake pedal and do it again.

Never push the break pedal, bad things can happen! ?

That car icon with "!" is the "stop safely now" icon. I have had this happen a few times. Letting the car sit for 10 mins fixes it every time... That icon means the car is disabled and will not drive with the current fault.

I believe you did properly try to turn the car on, but for some reason it got confused and issued the stop safely now which is soft cleared by leaving the car off for x minutes.

Thank you for the comment, but I have driven the car for 5 months and over 13k miles., I thinking might know how to put my foot on the break pedal and press the start button to start the car.?

If you are still stuck and you don't mind accessing the low voltage battery then disconnect the negative cable at the chassis ground point. Wait 5 or 10 minutes and re connect. That ought to do it. If not, then a tow appears to be your last option.
