Continuing the saga with my dead-Mach-E problems (https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/powertrain-malfunction-saga-continues.26064/), my dealership has advised me that they cannot unlock the car to get inside, despite having the key fob, keypad code, and jumping the LV battery. I cannot unlock the car via the app since the car is in "deep sleep mode". @Ford Motor Company has advised my dealership to break one of the windows to get inside. They hope they can start the car once inside (though I am skeptical).

What kills me is that they won't break the glass until they have a replacement window in hand (one to two weeks) since they have no indoor space to store the car once the glass is broken. Not only does this introduce additional delay waiting for the replacement glass, but it will also take more time (days?, weeks?, months?) before they can start to diagnose the situation. Who knows how much time it will take from there?

My dealership has provided me with a Ford Edge loaner car, but it does not have the functionality of a MME GT. So I'm stuck making payments on my MME while driving a loaner going on two months, and this will likely continue even longer. My frustration is off the charts!

Anyone else had a similar situation? Any suggestions to try to quicken the pace of repairs?

It sounds like they aren't doing something right. They need to hook your car up with jumper cables to another RUNNING VEHICLE and then unlock it with the fob, etc. Those little jump packs do not cut it for the Mach-E. I have a hard time believing they can't get in unless the BCM went bad all of a sudden (super rare).

Remember when the doors are in emergency mode you have to press the button twice to open them.

If it were my car, I'd be over there with jumper cables, key fobs, and a replacement 12V battery to gain access the instant they mentioned breaking a window.

I had something similar, but due to rodent damage to my wiring. The car got bricked in my driveway with it unlocked and the driver window rolled down. It could lock and unlock via the fob and I could open the doors, but it would not turn on and could not get into tow mode. There was also no way to winch it from the front, because of how it was parked. Had to get towed to the dealer on a dolly. The tow driver covered the window with plastic and then it sat at the dealer for over three weeks waiting on my insurance company to provide an estimate. Then another week to get parts.

In the end, to repair the wiring, the battery had to be dropped and it cost $6.5K.

At least your window is up. But in the end this whole electronic only door latch is a POS, as well as needing a computer running to get into tow mode.

If only they designed a key cylinder in the trunk hatch and cut the unused blank inside the fob to match. That would have been a solid mechanical emergency solution to gain access no matter the state of electronics.

I locked the keys in my Mach E within an hour of getting it. FordPass had an outage so I couldn’t activate it, and the 2021’s only had 1 key fob.

Long story short, AAA came and broke into my car with 7 miles on it ?. The ā€œgoodā€ news? They were in within 30 seconds. Two puffs of an airbag and their reacher tool could grab the release handle inside the door. It even is shapped with a loop/square, which makes it dead simple to grab.

There is absolutely zero need to break any windows. I promise you that one.

Sadly, the answer is Cost. And I’m forced to agree. This would be something used very infrequently (see airbag above). The cost of engineering in a mechanical lock, plus the additional costs of parts and manufacturing just don’t seem to outweigh the number of times this is going to happen.

Call the Ford BEV team and open a case. The May be able to expedite part shipment and come to an accommodation regarding the car payments and gas. Maybe.
I would definitely open a case with the Ford BEV team and get them to pay for your gas and car payments OP -- another ridiculously unacceptable story.

I agree with all of the folks above that your dealer has their head up their ass, and you should tell them to jump the car properly or at least call a locksmith (or just do this yourself if you have AA or thru your car insurance -- or maybe Ford Roadside??) since it seems like the MME is easy to open up.

Absolutly no need to break anything. Ive seen the airbag aparatus used on many cars, including a tesla and a mache.

Dont let them break it!
