I wouldn’t waste anymore time. You probably get a discount on other chargers for brands like Wallbox are ChargePoint from the power company. Spend a few hundred bucks to replace your bad charger, and then you will get to enjoy your car. No amount of after install service is going to resolve a faulty design, unless they are willing to come back and offer a different brand replacement.

I have been running Wallbox (with load management) for 1.5 years and no problem. I only run at 40amp bu that is enough to charge my lightning over night (as well as the Mach-e of course)

[tongue-in-check]We smartly bought two Juicebox chargers, which performed flawlessly (cough), until the $80+ billion Italian megacompany abandoned the North American market... [end tongue-in-check].
If you don't mind a little hacking, my Juicebox was given new life with the JuicePassProxy project. I'm using the Homeassistant add-on, but it also works standalone I believe.
https://github.com/jaydeethree/hassio-juicepassproxy/

Somehow it's actually been more stable than it was previously (it used to disconnect from the network every now and then).

Sometimes you can pay a lot of money for an inferior product. I have an Autel Maxicharger set at 48 amps and have not had any issues. My Autel software is very customizable and provides all of the data you could ask for.

As been mentioned, the Ford CSP is the problem. Not the car. If it was the car then why does it charge reliably at your wife’s work?

Many people have had trouble with the Ford chargers. It’s made by a third party and Ford slapped their logo on it with their own software. Sure, Ford should have done a better job or chose a better supplier. But it is what it is now. They’re actually giving out the Emporia Classic as the free charger now and not any Ford branded chargers, so take that for what it’s worth.

The solution to your problem is to replace the charger with a known reputable brand. Or you can just continue to be frustrated and wait for Ford to hopefully fix it with a software update in who knows how long.

Lot to unpack here.

1. The issue is both the car and charger. The charger would stop charging when the car got an update. Whatever the communication protocol is between the two, its getting interrupted and isn't resuming. That's a ford ev charging ecosystem issue. If a dumb charger doesn't have that issue, it's not relevant.

2. Siemens is on of the most reputable electrical engineering companies with some of the best electrical engineers on the planet. we use them in our industrial machinery at my job. Ford going with them to build their ev chargers might have been the best outcome for consumers because these are probably the closest thing to an industrial piece of equipment for your home that you can get.

This is a ford software issue. Hence why the Ford rep already replied to this thread saying ford is working on a software fix for it. Because it's a ford software issue.

This doesn't change the fact that this is unacceptable for a vehicle that has been out for 3+ years now and the biggest selling feature is the money you save charging at home. That should work flawlessly. I drive 3 hours a day. I dont want to sit at public charging, or have to use my wifes car and sit at a gas station. I bought the car to charge it at home.

Whether it's the car or chargers fault doesn't matter, it's a ford software issue in their ev-home ecosystem, which should not have any issues.

Really good points, here. I bought the DeWalt myself, largely because of the diagnostic indicators. I'd be lying if I'd said I hadn't bought it due to accidental brand loyalty. It wasn't even that much of a savings versus a proper home EVSE.

I have a ChargePoint charger (WiFi) and have had zero issues charging. It’s direct wired to my breaker on a 60amp circuit.

I’ve had some minor issues with the Ford App on my iPhone. They can be annoying, but persistence usually wins out.

We use Ford's charging system--installed in 2022. We charge only at home, and have pre-set charging times--have never had an issue.

Back in january i bought a 2025 maverick lariat for my wife and I to share. We both loved it. In 3 months of ownership i had no issues.

I ended up getting an opportunity for work that warranted another vehicle so we went with a used 2024 mach e awd premium extended range due to the distance i would be driving for work. I got the 2000$ (cad) rebate for the ford pro charger, installed it professionally on a 60amp breaker, and set it to 48a. And everything was good.

A few days after getting the car, the charger kept faulting overnight. Now this is a major issue. I need this car to go to work. I drive 200km a day and I need it charged when I leave for work in the morning. Luckily my wife could charge at work so we swapped vehicles but I wasn't happy about it.

I thought it might have been a bad installation, but after reading online, I turned off phone as a key and this seemed to fix it for a bit. A few weeks goes by and it starts faulting out again.

I called ford support and they said it was due to the preset charging times. Okay. I deleted that. Now I'm paying more for electricity because I don't want to go out at 9pm in my underwear to plug my car in so I have to leave it charging from 6pm to 5:30am, off peak hours. Annoying but whatever. Then I do a bit of digging and this has been a known issue since last year.

Couple more weeks goes by and things are fine, and then last night I wake up to another charging fault because my sirus radio, which i don't even use, updated overnight and for whatever reason the radio updating warrants the charger faulting out. My wife had to take it yet again to work, costing us more money in extra gas.

So now I've had to turn off phone as a key, turn off my schedule charging times, and now turn off automatic updates. great experience.

Ford get your shit together. This is unacceptable and the main selling feature of an ev should be the home charging experience. This should be #1 priority. I dont care about your stupid premium connectivity crap when i cant even drive my car to work because it didnt charge.

This should be figured out. I seriously don't understand how buying your flagship charger results in such a disconnected and broken experience for so many people without so much as an acknowledgment or roadmap for fixing it.

I can't believe what a difference my 2025 maverick is compared to my mach e. The maverick feels like a fully fledged product and my mach e feels like a half assed prototype left abandoned. Both vehicles from the same company both made around the same time with "relatively" similar software. Entirely shocking.
I agree with you that the Ford Charger Pro is not great. But we do live our new 2024 MACH E GT!

With Tesla and Tesla home Charger, never had a charging issue in 8 years. And we could change charging rate mid-charge from the app seamlessly (as clouds came and went) withi. 60 seconds.

We do not set charging from the Ford charger but rather do so within the app. We set preferred charging times (10a-5p) so as to best use our solar, and we find that often if we plug in the night before (not during a preferred time) we'll get a charging error. This can be an hour after we plug in, or when the charge is supposed to start. Always fixable, but shouldn't be happening--we've defaulted to having to go to detatched garage (about 100 feet from the house) and plugging in at 19am. Totally defeats the purpose of scheduling. This basic function should be a no think.

Anybody know if we have the wrong Ford charger? Is the less expensive model more dependable? Or is it an app or car software issue?

We didn't realize that the pro Charger has the extra pins so the Lightning can be used for backup house power. Fortunately, our new VW BUZZ has the same setup--it can charge with or without those extra pins--so it works for both vehicles. But I'd prefer not to have to uncover and cover the pins, and have a less complex plug in. Is the other ford charger without the extra two pins?

As with many there here, I have the Emporia (2 actually one in each side of the garage). 3 Mach-E’s in over 4 years, no issues. Have charged at least 12 Mach-E’s that have been here over that time, no issues. I would change chargers.

Kinda matters when the problem can be avoided by not using that charger. But Seimens is reputable!

Apparently not when selling chargers to white label for with other companies brands on them.

I can sympathize with the OP. I'm sorry about this experience. Back in August, I had my own traumatic experience........ At a fast food restaurant, I ordered a cheeseburger to go. But once home, I discovered I only got hamburger. My big mistake is that I should have placed my food in the freezer and kept the receipt. Since I didn't, I don't have very much legal recourse.

same here though i have an outlet. no issues with charging, ever. the car starts charging again after a software update.

siemens or not, the ford charger is kind of a POS. i agree with everyone else in the thread saying to just get a proper charger and forget tilting at this windmill.
