Dec '24 Android Update - Bluetooth Connection Problems

Flip5 here, left me stranded, had to get a fob delivered. Delivery driver is still giving me a ration of shit about stupid PAAK users. I'd boycott the company. But she's my wife...

I have an S23. But the update was not an Android OS update. It was an update to Samsung's One UI skin over Android from Samsung One UI 6 to 6.1 plus the December security patch. You might want to change the title of the post as this won't affect non-Samsung phones.

Early today, I could not open the trunk standing right next to the car. I honestly didn't think much of it until I saw this post.

A bit annoying but I always keep the FOB in my pocket just in case so it won't affect my driving habits.

Ah it may have only been the security patch but it definitely was not a change in Android versions as the title implies. I thought it was a One UI update because it hit both my phones, my watch and my tablet. The watch update surprised me.

Saw this thread linked on the Lightning forum as a PSA. My Verizon S23U got the Dec security update yesterday and the PAAK worked fine on my Lightning earlier today. I am on Fordpass 5.10 beta. I wonder if the update didn't impact my phone model or maybe it doesn't impact the Lightning.

Ironically, Only weeks ago I tried a Pixel 9 Pro Fold. I took it back and went back to my S24.
The 9 Pro Fold has an AWFUL Bluetooth problem (pandemic in this model) that caused drops in comms to the car, hearing aids, and Bose headphones. Everybody is posting about it.

Now Sammy is mucking up BT on my S24. Car comms are as noted elsewhere - screwed up.

It would be nice if a standard was agreed upon that... oh, yea. It's BT.

I hope they take these complaints to heart. It sounds like an easy fix. Our cars aren't recognized as being on the approved list. Perhaps Ford can get involved.

Does anybody else here own both a Lightning and a Mach-E? If you do, and your phone has taken the update, check and see if you are getting the same results I have. I have no problems with PAAK and connecting on our Lightning, but it won't connect on our Mach-E. Phone is an S23 Ultra. Seems the problem could be vehicle specific.

Sounds like a combo of vehicle, phone vendor, and Dec update.

I am on Pixel with their Dec update for over a week. Pretty stable.

Sitting in my car earlier, I remover and added back my S23. Then I did a restart on my phone and for a brief moment I was able to connect for controls. Then it disconnected.

Note, Android Auto works just fine and my phone is connected to the car. It just won't connect through the Ford app. I'm just thankful the remote start still works. It's been very cold here so warming up the car outside of set departure times has been a godsend.

That's interesting. I think i had a problem like this but it's must have been 8 months or so. I had to reset everything and start from scratch but this time I can't get it to work again. I was able to add the phone as a key but it won't work it still tells me no key fob found. I'm going to give it a week or two and try again.

I'm on a pixel 8 pro with same Dec update. I have Fordpass beta (5.10). I just got back from a week long vacation. Fordpass connected to the car first time to allow me to open the trunk. PAAK worked on first try. Android Auto connected wirelessly no issue.

Seems to be specific to a Samsung security patch, pushed to newer models.
