Remember, also, that we do not know with certainty that the first year of MME is sold out.
Good point, I do think it is very likely Ford has more than enough Global reservations / orders for their stated 50,000 battery allotment. Hopefully they are upfront with new orders that 2021 delivery times in 2021 are dependent on how many reservations convert to orders and any additional batteries.

To me, the "destination" criteria really only applies to those on road trips. If someone living in the area goes to the mall, they're usually gonna be on their home charge and usually don't need to add more at the mall. Most BEVs have plenty of around-home range now. When I leave my house at 80%, I won't bother plugging in at Applebees 10 miles from my house.
But if you are on a road trip and stop to see one of the sites along the way, a co-located charger would be very convenient. (Or even one near a highway restaurant if you stop for a long lunch.)

t's a trade off. Yet again. Name an EV that's 60k that has near perfect build quality (no car manufacturer has perfect quality and it's very rare for a car to have "no imperfections"), is crazy fun to drive, and has some probably the best overall tech package.
Check out a Toyota Venza. (And you can get it for a lot less than 60k!)

Wish everyone well with the Mach E. Was able to test drive a Model Y today and it was really nice. Between proven OTA updates, 250kw charging, Supercharger network, and 300+ range, decided to go for it. I would love to also test drive a Mach E, but seems like that is not happening anytime soon. I'm sure the Mach E will be great, but for 50k I am nervous about all the "firsts" by ford. First OTA, first car on this new platform, first with this online sales model. I also think folks underestimate the dealers ability to service a new EV. My Volt was always problematic at the dealer, they would say, oh the EV guy is not here today, etc. They will only see a handful of these for quite some time and yours will be the one they learn on. Hopefully over a few years that will change. Good luck everyone!
I cancelled our model Y order after testbdriving one and talking to several owners. They all complained about the quality of their delivered car. Spent too much time at the dealer getting fixed.

Not sure if @Newbie is still on the board, but wondering how the Model Y experience is going.

I just cancelled my Mach e order and the dealer (Reynolds Ford - Norman, OK) wouldn’t refund any of my $500. They can do that but that Is the last dealer I will ever do business with. I’m now ordering a Model Y online.
As an owner of a model y and a mustang Mach-e the level of service and support is much better from Tesla. Every time I have needed service on the Tesla, no matter what the issue, it has been taken care of immediately. No questions asked. With my mustang Mach-e there is always an issue. Sometimes the only tech that’s trained in EVs is on vacation. Sometimes the problem isn’t fixed and I need to take it back. I feel like ford is still experiencing some growing pains and having trouble adjusting to the times. Ford also called me up and told me I am entitled to a free oil change. I kid you not ?

Don't know how a Venza came up on a forum discussing electric cars, but I can tell you that my favorite car is my current Venza. It is not a performance vehicle, but it has so many great features that I am reluctant to give it up. But I expect my soon to be delivered MME GTPE will have enough new features, and be so fun to drive, that I won't miss the Venza.

I've read very few times where I've heard praises of Tesla's customer service. You must live next to a dealer. Tesla would be no option ever by me the nearest dealer is over an hour and a half away. No style and they don't change the body no thanks. Ford is new to the game so just not all mechanics will be trained at this point yet but they will be as time goes on. Teslas been around for 10 plus years and they're still damn near no dealers to go to for service I read horror stories on people waiting 6 to 8 months for fenders. Where I know at least the Ford dealership will have it. Once this car gets established in a few more months the Ford dealer will start caring parts I mean it's kind of amazing how many parts they do have for their vehicles when you walk in there and it's like wow you got this part I doubt you can say the same for Tesla. Granted there's not near the parts on a ev. when I'm on the road if there's a problem there's enough Ford dealers I can get help from or try to get help from remember this is just the beginning for this company so they're still learning Tesla's had a lot longer time with this now if Tesla was to switch to ice oh you can bet your ass they'd be a hell of a disaster. I mean they struggle right now with dealerships and service not alone with ice engines or the near amount. I mean Tesla was happy to hit $250,000 cars after it was several years Ford hit 50,000 the first year during a massive chip shortage so I feel it's just nothing but for the better for Ford in the future Tesla it's still like ehhh and they've had plenty of time and sooooooo much $$$$$ burn. Ford and gm and fiat whoever they are now don't have near the cash to burn. And actually have to turn profits on there products and not by selling pollution credits.

I'm buying the Mach-E because it is fun and unique. Folks expecting a first-generation car to be reliable and problem-free are delusional. I'm expecting teething problems, dealership with no EV specialists or limited access to them, glitches, etc.

My ID.4 ownership experience was unpleasant so I am happy I got rid of it. However if it was fun to drive and sporty... I probably would have tolerated the daily glitches. My new Model Y (filler car) is absolutely flawless in operation. No more unreliable EA chargers! No more broken wireless charging! No more crappy lane assist! No more CarPlay disconnecting! Everything works all the time.

I'll be trading in the Model Y for the Mach-E in the summer (that's when I expect the production to unbacklog). The Mach-E is somewhere between a Model 3 and Model Y... sporty but not too SUV-like.

You are right, CarPlay is 100% certain not to disconnect with a Tesla.
Yup.... it barely worked on the ID.4 so I'm glad it's gone (yes I know it doesn't exist on the Tesla). I'm so used to glitch after glitch... so weird not to be taking a photo after every drive of what I experienced on the ID.4.. lol.

I’m a long time VW fan. I’ve owned many different models over the years. One thing they’ve all had in common is electrical glitches that made no sense. This and the boring nature of the ID4 are what kept me away from it
