Whether your household is all EV is not all that matters!

Main car, the MME, does the work, heavy lifting and c30,000 miles per year.

We have air source heat pump home heating and a heat pump clothes dryer.

Only wifey’s ICE burns fossil fuel in our household, though it does just 4 tanks of petrol per year so we’re probably better than almost all households in terms of how little fossil fuel we burn ?

We still have our wonderful 7 seat 2006 Jeep Commander. 50k and looks new. Used little but great for family trips and dinner using one vehicle. If we do get our 3rd ev it will sold easily. If Lucid Gravity pans out with over 400 mile range and stickers at $79990 plus full tax rebate it may be something to decide on. I really doubt it at that price but time will tell as full specs are released. By the way I have a toro 22 60v recycler mower 7.6 battery and its awesome. The blower works like a gas unit.
My weed wacker, 24" hedge trimmers, 12 foot pole chainsaw and power pruners are great tools 20v black and decker. Still have 12v skill saw, reciprocal saw, drill that only had 2 batteries replaced in say 20 yrs. Electric powered tech should hit 100v in next few years.

None of the choices quite match me either. I'm about 85-90% EV. My daily driver is a Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEV. Most of the time it's driven in golf cart mode. In the 12k miles we've driven this year in both cars, 11k were EV mode, but for some trips we've needed the ICE option in the Jeep. For example, my BIL's place is 120 miles away. In the summer, we could make it in the MME, maybe topping off at an L2 close to our destination, but this time of year we can't make the trip without detouring 25 miles out of our way to find the only DCFC between Cedar Rapids and Decorah, which is in Waterloo. For the most direct route, there's only one L2 available and it's too close to home for the return trip. That said, the MME is perfect for my wife's daily use, and our trips for medical appointments 60-75 miles away.

Yes, they did. Fortunately, my 2023 Sahara is new enough not to be affected by the recall. It's the Jeep equivalent of the MME HVJB issue.

At work there are three people that own an EV. All three of us own more than one.

Everyone else at work has no interest in owning an EV.

I think odds are that once the first EV is purchased a second will follow.

Truth. My husband realized he kept wanting to drive my car instead of his, so we decided he needed his own EV, especially when we realized we couldn't trust his ICE Highlander to road trip anymore.

your whole post is about “the world not ready for EVs” - maybe you have the wrong one for your needs. But this trip you are concerned with is doable in your standard range too - at least for me And my lifestyle.

enjoy your Tacoma. I will enjoy our two EVs. Everyone is different and that’s a good part of capitalism, you can buy what you want.

The options don't fit us either. We have a 96 Miata that we use to go to get ice cream cones from Vic's Ice Cream in the summer. It sees about 100 miles per year and is at all other times covered in our garage. We're not about to get rid of the Miata, but we love our 23 MME Premium

Respectfully noted. My tone is influenced by experiences and media exposure.

I definitely respect the personal experience part, but media is all over the place nonsensical on EVs for and against. Like most things, reality probably lies somewhere in the middle of both stances.

I'll answer your survey without selecting an option. I am 100% all in on EVs. I have about 50,000 miles of EV driving between my original 21 MME Select and the 22 GTPE I replaced it with. The SR Select was more of a challenge to road trip in. For example, a trip to Buffalo NY from Columbus OH took 3 charge stops both ways with the Select whereas the GTPE can make it with a single charging stop. I've made many road trips between OH and NY, had plenty of charging options and backups, and made it fine regardless of the weather. For my needs, the car meets everything I want and is incredibly fun to drive.

My wife, however, is completely indifferent about EVs so until we get to a point where driving an EV is as simple as driving an ICE vehicle in terms of matching range and refuel times she'll probably never bite. If we road trip together we always take my car, but if she is traveling she'd never take mine over hers. She has a top trim Acura RDX and I love her car but I don't like driving it over my car. Just feeling the shifting/gears, the slight hesitation when hitting the gas, the noise, etc. just can't match the EV experience with the GTPE.

So while I would fall in the No category for the poll the reasoning is completely different. I would also acknowledge there is no solid consistency with being an EV owner today, and I think that is the biggest problem when comparing ICE to EV today. My experience is awesome, but if I lived somewhere else in the country trying to do the same thing there, it may result in an awful experience.

As I stated at the onset, I’m averaging about 200 miles per charge. With poor cell reception in areas, not a trip I’m comfortable making until more and better reliable charging comes online.

Would be great if McDonald's and other fast food joints started offering charging.

I agree with you on that I would like to see fast chargers at better locations ie: cafes/fast food Not Walmart and target. I just went to an EvGo station (137kwh on my MME) that was brand new and outside a strip mall of food options. It was great. Lunch and a quick juice.

I hope you do feel comfortable with your MME one day. 200mile charge. I would take this trip with a return stop at a EA station back in Vegas for a non stop distance of 167 miles. charge for 10min and continue home. But I also don’t want a truck ?

Your post and other vibes throughout the forum make me suspect that if I did a poll asking what percentage of the owners are male versus female, I suspect the answer would be heavily tilted to male. I don't say that or mean that as derogatory in any way. I do, however, think it's the reality.

My dad is a great example of a Male who isn't going to be all in on EVs. He's constantly purchasing old cars off of BAT, fixing them up and enjoying them. It's not that he believes that the world isn't ready for EVs, it's just that he likes fixing up and driving old cars. Therefore, while an EV might be his daily driver (it's not, but he wouldn't be opposed to it), he will never be "all EV".

Well said Todd, you and I both know there can be a myriad of reasons other than, the world isn't ready for EV's, yet, that someone has not gone in 100% EV in their household. So, Elisa's poll ends up having a narrative bias rather than just stating a mathematical fact.

When they make an EV super duty truck that can tow a 16k 5th wheel and still get around 270 miles per charge doing it, I'll consider going full EV. For now, my Ram 2500 diesel will do.

It will be interesting to see if they can make an EV super duty work in the next 40 years. It takes a lot of energy to pull something like that (rough estimate: 30 gallons of diesel = 1,200 kW). Even if solid state batteries become economically viable, it's gonna take a while to charge even with a a 350kW charger speeds of today.
