I am trying out A Better Route Planner but having no luck getting the state of charge in the app. I see many people with 2024 and older cars getting it to work with both the data coming from Android Auto or an OBD dongle. I have tried both with no luck. I have reached out to both OBDLink and ABRP but they haven't been able to help so far.

Has anyone with a 2025 been able to get state of charge in ABRP? I honestly don't know if this is something I am doing or if Ford changed some of the OBD Parameters for the 2025 causing this issue.

They probably changed the parameters, or it's encrypted now. It will probably take some time before access to those parameters is available.

Are you using the paid version of ABRP? That used to be a requirement for real-time data.

Sorry I should have mentioned that. Yes it is the OBDLink CX.

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm seeing similar issues with Carscanner with my OBD dongle on my new Mach-e 2025. A lot of the data is missing in the dashboards. I've tried the two profiles for the Mach-e in Carscanner and see similar results.

The OBD dongle is a Vgate vLinker MC+, which worked just fine with older Mach-e models.

Not at all, I think the issues are related. I am seeing the same thing in Car Scanner. Below is what I am seeing. I think Ford changed how the PIDs are mapped.

The move towards encryption in both the Mach-e and Lightning are creating roadblocks for all of the aftermarket doo-dads that we have been using for the past few years. It wouldn't be such an issue if the Ford software user experience, like having maps that include Tesla chargers, had actually improved or been modernized along with the encryption.

I signed up for ABRP on iOS with a generic OBD2 adapter from Amazon. Works as designed but I don’t care for the interface and the navigation voice sounds like it’s from an 80’s Commodore.

Went back to CarPlay which offers range display, charging station recommendations and predictive trip range completion. Just wish I could tap on the chargers it recommends on route to know more about them or what’s around.

I tried the paid version on my 2025 and am not getting data via Android Auto. I looked through the info from other threads and seems to think that I've done everything correctly here.

I reached out to ABRP and have been emailing with their support. I just provided another bug report that they requested to help narrow down the issue. I will keep you posted.

@cereal Thanks for confirming that you are also having the issue on a 2025.

@cooltatts Based on your profile it looks like you have a 2024 and it works so I think there is a definitely an issue specific to the 2025.

I'd be willing to provide some info to them, but probably won't reach out unless I know it'd be helpful, feel free to tag me and I'll wander over and collect whatever logs they'd wish.

Ford probably changed the PID mapping, or something similar. Some CAN bus modules have message authentication now for MY25 but nothing is encrypted.

(That means anyone that wants to try to use OpenPilot on a MY25 or later will have no luck, unless someone is able to extract the authentication keys or otherwise find a way to break it.)

Damn, that's frustrating. I haven't bought OpenPilot / Comma but I've thought about it a few times. I'm not surprised at all however. Makes me wonder how much they changed.
