I feel like every new car has xm radio, but I've maybe met one person with a subscription. Seems like a waste of money to build it in if nobody uses it.. Right?

On the other hand maybe there's a bigger demand for it than I thought... Where do you stand?
To quote Yogi Berra, "No one goes there anymore. It's too crowded."

I love it. But I have to switch stations when I feel it starts to repeat. I also use Amazon music to get specific playlists or songs or artists. I can stream it while I BBQ and drink beer. Worth it for me.

I've never used SXM in my life. I'm pretty sure I had a free trial with my MME as I got a letter in the mail to subscribe for a discount. I listen to podcasts 80-85% of the time, the rest YouTube Music. I never saw the point in letting someone pick my music for me, when I know exactly what I want to listen to. As for their "radio shows", I can hand pick my podcasts to do the same or better. I think there was window of time when music services and podcasts weren't anywhere near what they are today. That time has long since past, and I think SXM offerings are redundant, at least on paper. What the hell do I know, I've never even bothered to try it, even when it was free ?.

We subscribe. You get more than music in your car. I listen online at work. I use it on my phone all the time. I listened to my phone at the driving range tonight. I stream to my Retrosound in my 1969 Mustang Convertible. I also stream to a bluetooth speaker on our patio. I find it a good investment.

How can you have a SXM poll and not mention Howard Stern? From articles I've read, he's the number one reason that millions of people subscribe.
Who? ?

You should never pay their default subscription fee. You can get it substantially cheaper if you call, or just wait for them to start spamming your email/mailbox with offers.

I feel pretty "meh" about it personally. My wife enjoys it in her car but she is not very tech savvy. I normally use streaming services but have been using their service since its free right now. The repeated content gets SUPER old, and I miss the ability to just fast-forward through a song that I don't like when streaming :)

I personally feel that Sirius XM is a waste. It's expensive, audio quality is *meh* at best, and the stations repeat songs ALL THE TIME!

So here's my question. Does anyone subscribe to it anymore? If so, what's your reasoning?

I subscribe. Have quite a few stations programmed and listen to most of them. When I get bored of a certain type of music then I listen to something else for few days. Also like the live sports for the drive home. Right now I have been listening to the Road Trip station. Sometimes like to listen to Garth Brooks station even though I am not a country music fan....they play a mix of stuff. It was the Bob Marley channel last week. Week before was Underground Garage. I like the variety I guess.

I don't have a personal phone. My cell is company issued and we aren't allowed to stream content unless we have a WiFi connection. Quite alright for me since I don't stream anything on the road anyway.

I am looking to get my CD collection on USB so I can have those tracks available.

If I remember correctly, the annual subscription was super cheap. They charged my card about $30 for the year. Not too bad IMO....

I had it in my MKZ and cancelled it after the first year. The sound quality is like listening to a song in a tin can. The bit streaming rate is extremely low so songs sound horrible. I will never pay for it unless they get the bit rate at least close to MP3, which can also be compressed and sound bad.

Like the convenience and use it, but wish the bit rate were higher. Once upon a time I curated my own lists but hated managing across devices.

Like several others, I have it at a discounted rate, because when on long (but routine) road trips here in the intermountain west, cell coverage and terrestrial radio coverage can both be spotty - usually simultaneously!

You tell me where the cell tower/radio station is in this photo!

I’ve gotten it for years with new cars and subscribed for a substantial discount when the “trial” would expire. I used to listen because of Howard Stern, but I broke myself of that habit a few years ago. Last year my latest “trial” expired, I tried to call and said I’d pay $5/mo, but the service guy wouldn’t budge, so I walked. It’s fine, but I do miss Lithium and a few other stations, but it ain’t worth more than $5/mo. Terrestrial radio is good for the local-ness, but the commercials are a bit too much.

I wish Sirius would price it right from the get go and not have the car dealer like mentality and make you haggle with them. Most posts on this topic say the same thing - call and haggle. It’s a turnoff and makes me not want to do any business with them regardless of cost.

We have it in all the cars. I actually got one of their first portable radios in 2004 and used it a lot when I was traveling 90% of the year. I too jump around stations, when I get bored with one or hear songs that I don't fancy. Recently spent some time on their 50's channel on the 3rd anniversary of my parents passing.

Did you call them? I’ve been paying $5/mo for All-Access for years.
Same here. I call every 6 months to 12 months. Put the date to call and “cancel” in my phone with the account number and every time I get the $5.00 per month plus tax.

I have two subscriptions.…both EVs.

I ripped everything from CD to mp3 a few years ago. Took me awhile since I had to rip 2700 CDs... I only buy music on mp3 now and I love having everything digital
