Hey All.

Bruce here. Just considering purchasing a Mach-e. Seems like a great vehicle. Unfortunately there are only 7 within 200 miles of us here in remote Missouri. My wife doesn't want a vehicle that is too low to the ground. The sill height of our RAV 4 (a very mediocre vehicle in my opinion) is 16.5 inches from the ground. What is the sill height of the Mach-e? I think for us it'll come down to the Mach-e or ID4. As long time VW owners, we are attracted to them. I know we don't have one now, but we had one from 98 to 2015. Anyway. Thanks for the info.

Welcome to the site.

Do you mean the step in height (e.g. how high you have to lift your feet up to get into the car)? If so I measured that at 19" in my CA Rt1 model.

It is a bit higher on the Mach-E than it would be on a comparable ICE vehicle because you're stepping over the battery.

Awesome. Yep. That's it. My wife doesn't want a car that's too low to the ground. The Rav is 16.5. So this is actually a little better as long as the seat isn't 8 inches down from there. BTW, it's HELL getting old. :)

I have an ID.4 Pro S and can measure it in any way you like. I'll subscribe to this thread so just respond here or PM me.

Its not, the seat height is comparable to an Escape. The Mach-E is more like a CUV/SUV than a car.

Seems like the measurement you should compare isn't the door sill height, it's the height of the bottom seat cushion off the road, no?

From your comment about getting old I’m wondering if you are more concerned with ease of entry and exit rather than how high you sit above the ground. I don’t know that those two necessarily go exactly hand in hand.

Getting out of a low sitting vehicle is harder than a higher seating vehicle, as you age.

Mach e has, unfortunately, less ground clearance than rav4. Mach e seat is lower than rav. But Higher than a typical sedan. Rav4 with v6 is a great car. Perfect size for most home depot runs, kayak carrier, sleep in back, etc. Not oversized like the Highlanders, and other std. size luxury suvs most folks drive for no functional purpose. Rav4 With v6 rocks. But Mach e is a rocket. Mach e will not be the same workhorse. More of a speedster for the aging crowd. Enjoying it very much. Imho

One of the nice things about the Mach-E is that it seems to have a tremendously adjustable height range. You can sit very low like a sedan/coupe, or you can sit very high, closer to a small SUV. The roofline encourages high-sitting with no problem. Plus, it has an “easy entry/exit” feature (which you can enable or disable) that slides the seat back when you get out, making entry into the higher seat easier because you’re not as close to the steering wheel.

(Unfortunately, it only remembers to pull you back into driving position when you start the car about 60% of the time, but you can always push the door button for your profile to finish the job.)

The sill (step-over) height is 18". The Mach E has a fairly high sill relative to the floor as the floor is 4" below the sill. Because the floor is on top of the battery pack, the Mach E has low ground clearance but small SUV-sized sill and floor heights.

Yes, but the other factor I was alluding to is clearance for one’s head. Even if the seat is high, having a lower roof can cause problems for taller folks who might bump their head getting in or who would have to scrunch down uncomfortably, depending on hip flexibility etc. I used to have a car that had reasonable ground clearance but I sometimes hit my head getting in if I wasn’t careful. I can’t speak to that with the MME since I don’t have one yet but wondering how head clearance is.

If you were getting into the window seat on an airplane would you need to grab the setbacks of the row in front of you? If the answer is no, getting into the MME will be a breeze. If the answer is yes then you'll have to give it a shot and see what you think.

It’s been almost 2 yrs since I’ve flown so I can’t remember. I think I used to hold onto the heads of the people in the row in front of me. Is that why everyone kept shouting at me?
