My FIL saw an EV9 yesterday and said "Wow what's that car? pretty sharp looking." It definitely turns heads.Kinda weird that they categorized the MY as “luxury.” I found the MME to have the nicer and quieter interior.
They probably shoulda just lumped both categories together and let people decide on price.
I need to take a closer look at that Kia EV9. Looks beautiful from the outside. But probably too big for my needs.
I like the boxier SUV look. But this thing is too big for my needs. I don’t need a three row SUV.My FIL saw an EV9 yesterday and said "Wow what's that car? pretty sharp looking." It definitely turns heads.
most SUVs in the US are just marketing strategies (real ones are Escalade, Suburban, Denali) but particularly with EVs if you call it a SUV you likely get a far better chance at accessing the IRS tax credit with higher price trims above $55k.Why is an IONIQ 5 an SUV.
And most importantly, what is luxury about a Model Y. Whoever wrote that article has never sat in one. ?
My father was a professional mechanic and in later years, a used car lot owner. He used to say, "Buying a car with all the bells and whistles wont get you any more money when you sell it, but it will help you sell it quicker."...(almost all) is just like buying at the luxury car level. Part of the oft discussed depreciation is built into the same scenario as when buying an overpriced “luxury” car.
My perception is that reviewers use price to classify a vehicle. Back when the model Y was $60k+ it was so classified, despite its paucity of true luxury trimmings and features (like actual leather, ventilated seats for one example).Adding plastic cladding = SUV
I agree Tesla is not a luxury brand. It does have an arguably premium perception. I read an article describing a new breed of brand tier for EVs. Premium Technology. Perhaps this is where Tesla, Polestar and Rivian belong.
