First fall/winter with my Mache. 2023 premium I put my destination in and get electric range revised due to destination route. What does that mean. All I see is my range go down. I cancel the trip. Redo it and the message is gone Please help

the range displayed in the driver's console (aka IPC) is a guess based on recent past driving and doesn't know anything about your intended near future use (i.e. highway, hills, expected speed, temperature along route, etc).

when you use the in-car navigation it has better knowledge about all of that information once you select a destination so it "revises" your expected range to match the route you have planned.

I find the range that gets recalculated after engaging the nav even more inaccurate than it was before. Just ignore it.

Good example I left Wenatchee Washington this afternoon and said I’d have 22% when I arrived back to Seattle. The arrival time was spot on but arrived at 33%

It’s working as designed.

https://www.ford.com/support/how-tos/electric-vehicles/ev-range/what-is-intelligent-range/

How Intelligent Range Works
Intelligent Range activates automatically (no setup necessary) and pays attention to factors such as:

  • Your driving patterns and behavior.
  • Your vehicle (e.g., how much you are hauling or towing, current battery charge, maintenance, etc.).
  • Connected data from traffic updates, weather forecasts, maps and other electric Ford drivers.
  • Your natural surroundings (e.g., geography, terrain, current weather conditions, etc.).
The feature considers all factors, does the math and sends over all the latest battery range information to your in-vehicle digital instrument cluster, as well as the FordPass®** App, to help you decide when you will need to charge again. And if you encounter any significant changes as you drive (e.g., unexpected traffic), your vehicle will adjust and update Intelligent Range in real time.

Your range figure may be less on a trip with higher speeds or elevation change. When a route is entered in the navigation, the energy use is calculated based on expected speeds, elevation, and weather along the route, so the range figure is updated.

Nothing is wrong, it's working as designed to calculate the estimated range. The feature is called intelligent range as you can see above.

When the cars came out the Range indication showed a more realistic range based on the current conditions. Then when it got cold all the "I got the wrong battery" and "what happened to my range" questions started. Now when you charge the car indicates an unreal number (279 at 100% for me) and if you use the Ford Nav it gives you a more realistic number based on weather, road conditions and your driving history. I find it relatively accurate.

That's why the call it the "Guess-O-Meter"!!! Don't take it as Gospel. Longer trips just confirm with "A Better Route Planner".

I have a Mach e GT and an F250. Both have range estimators. The GT range increases in town where there is a lot of braking (braking adds miles). It goes down on the highway due to no braking and higher wind resistance. Coming off a highway I see my range jump 3-5 miles immediately and sometimes not go down for miles. The 250 range goes down in city driving due to more stops and starts but goes up on the highway due to constant travel speed with continually accelerating from 0. If I go 80 in the 250 the range is significantly reduced from 65. That’s just the way the world works. ICE ranges change with how you drive, the temperature, winds, elevation, going up hills etc. same for EVs. For whatever reason ICE driver are not quite as anal about it and don’t check their range 5 time a day.
