Definitely the same launch I’m talking about.

I watched it and then watched it again.

I understand it was a success to get off the pad.

But when they cheer right when it explodes????

That is a fake as hell, pre-planned reaction. “Ok everyone, if it blows up, make sure to cheer, remember we are on camera…..”

A natural reaction would have been disappointment, a few swear words, then maybe acceptance that at least it got off the launch pad. Maybe a half hearted pity clap.

Basically the same kinda reaction when you throw a ball bearing through a bulletproof window…..
If the cheering was preplanned, then you don't think that memo would have gotten out by now?
SpaceX rockets blowing up, and failing to land while still in the development and testing stage is nothing new. They cheered because it achieved more than was expected.

As far as the ball bearing, Elon and the other guy on stage were visibly surprised when the window cracked.

2 completely and opposite reaction.

I didn't know if the fansboys would understand what a narcissistic megalomaniac is. They tend to gravitate towards people like Elon and Trump thinking it's a good thing.
I'm pretty sure that most if not all CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, as well as most national politicians, are narcissists. You have to be to think that you know what's best for your thousands of employees or your constituents.

True to a point.

Warren Buffett has maybe the opposite MO if you will. They don't all have to act like Morons. ?

And a side bar, although I think Warren is an amazing business man he does have some odd ways about him as well but once again, I don't think he is anything like Elon so you may want to leave that statement of yours as most and not everyone. ?

don't attack the messenger

Here's a quote you won't get from right wing news. From John Kelly a republican and Trump's longest serving Chief of Staff, Trump is “a person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ‘suckers’ because ‘there is nothing in it for them.’”
This is a car forum. I know we stray outside of cars sometimes, but mentioning politicians by name is over the line.

It is obvious you are passionate about your hate, and that is fine. Just don't share it with us. Take it over to your left wing, big government forum and tell them about it.

Bro, do you not see what you are doing? This thread isn't about Trump at all. No one even mentioned him. It's seriously a problem if you can't stop thinking about these people. Recognizing an accomplished person regardless of their flaws is not political. Also, Elon has voted Democrat in every single election so far.
While I agree this thread isn't about Trump, exactly who were you talking about that was out of office for 3 years? While I totally agree with about the thread, it is actually you that brought politics into this. ?

Exactly. One of those reactions seemed natural.

No chance there is a written memo to cheer loudly. That would just be a conversation in a meeting.

If someone was there on their first day of work(who missed that meeting), pretty sure their natural reaction to the explosion wouldn’t be a loud cheer.

Fake, weird, etc. It’s how narcissists see the world. They don’t believe in failures and won’t let their employees see things any other way. It’s all “the greatest and best ever.” People have written quite a few books on the subject.

Not only did they cheer, they sprayed a bottle of champagne! (That takes a bit of pre planning as well).

Totally agree with you.

Just to make a fine point onto this, after the Apollo 13 landed they cheered as well. Not because it failed (which it did) but because the crew made it back alive.

This is just a guess, but I am fairly sure they didn't cheer as the "explosion" by the moon happened.

You are spot on with Elon, the people in the Command Center are cheering for the "party of one". Elon

Well at least you are keeping it alive on this thread but you are correct and I was wrong.

I agree, although the post that was sent to you seemed to be a fairly accurate depiction of some on this forum, it should not have been stated in this thread and politics should be left at the doorstep.

Have a great day.;)

Do you think they would have popped the champagne and cheered if the rocket blew up on the launch pad?

Perhaps and this was stated before the launch that their goal was just to clear the launch pad. Every else is just icing on the cake.

I remember you getting banned and it didn't dawn on me that you are reinstated. Welcome back!

I think you forget the cost of Apollo. 3 lives were lost in that program, the worst part is they never left the ground. Vehicles were also lost.

Starship's booster had never flown. Every bit of it was experimental. A "win" was clearing the pad, its odds were 50/50. Furthermore the reason for cheering after it departed controlled flight was that it blew up. Rockets are supposed to blow up immediately upon leaving controlled flight. The fact it was tumbling had some engineers saying under their breath "oh fuck oh fuck........". It should have blown up and it didn't.

It kept going 40 seconds after receiving the self destruct command. It of course being the largest most powerful rocket ever launched whose 2nd stage is 3x larger than any other vehicle designed to leave the atmosphere. It left the launchpad with enough energy to travel ~18,000 miles and it departed controlled flight about 24 miles into that journey.

When it goes wrong, it can go really wrong.

No.

I think it’s a natural reaction to cheer success and be sad when there is failure.

Cheering when it gets off the launch pad- natural

Cheering when it hits altitude- natural

Cheering the loudest and popping champagne when it explodes- fake as hell, preplanned, propaganda BS.

I think it’s just a symptom of working for a narcissist. If people there weren’t treated like robots and could express natural reactions and opinions openly, they would have been disappointed at the explosion and acted like every other normal human on the planet and said out loud “oh No!……”

I watched it live, new ahead of time what the goals were and that it was 50/50 on blowing up. Still said “oh no……” at the explosion.

I probably would have been fired immediately if I worked there and that got caught on TV.

If what you’re saying is true (it went 40 seconds longer than it should after getting the self destruct command), then the cheers and champagne popping are even WORSE!

REAL reactions wouldn’t be cursing under your breath, it would be out loud. And then when it finally exploded it would be a sigh of relief, not pretending like it was a “huge success.”
