Mine works 100% now with a swipe, locks instantly. I didnt even know you should press the lock (dont think there even is a sensor there?)

i used to have an issue where the driver door didn’t lock, but I had the door module swapped first, and then the driver side bt-antenna wiring (it measured a slight anomaly).

Try swiping down?

And if it’s only the driverside front, have them measure the antenna array impedances. The button only works if the car can position you at the door.

OP I know you know this, but I've been using the "hold 7-8 and 9-0" buttons now since I got the car. The "lock button" is not mentioned anywhere that I saw as a means of locking the door, but holding those two keypad numbers is.

It became quite natural for me to use now, and it works 100% of the time (and allows me to lock my PaaK phone in the car if I so wanted).

I don't typically lock the doors with that padlock pad, since it's so unreliable...

But once or twice I had the thought, "Am I supposed to swipe this?"

Have you tried a swipe? If I look at it under bright light, I can see some sort of sensor is positioned in a square cutout area right behind or slightly askew of that padlock, depending on the door pillar. Maybe by swiping you'll get better coverage to where the actual sensor is located.
Great advice. Before I tried different ways but worked not all the times. Today I used swipe and worked 100%.

I just started using it (probably the same tip in another thread) and didn't have a single failure so far on 3 out of 4 doors. I think I just touch it, maybe hold for half a second or so. Very happy with this discovery so far.

Today, I tried slow swipe, fast swipe, and putting my finger there for five seconds. Some times it worked on the second or third try. Mostly, it's still taking 4-10+ times.

I'll just use walk away lock or the fob until I have the need to bring it to the dealer for something else.

Honestly, walk away locking would be perfect if the confirmation was a quiet calm chirp. The horn blast is just so loud and obnoxious.

Is this only on driver door? Because this sounds exactly like what I had before the Bluetooth antenna array got fixed.

Before that every other door worked 100%, with car having issues with fob/phone recognition from the front left quarter of the car. Meaning the lock button didn’t really respond either.

no. Every door is similarly broken (takes 2-20 presses)
