Probably already answered but I also thought I had defective transponders.
Solution is to place on blacked out area on windshield next to mirror

I placed an E-pass sticker (florida) in the black dots on the drivers side of the mirror. I used tape so i could move it if necessary.
Iā€˜ve received a nasty gram from the toll agency that it’s not working.
They did bill my account after reading my tag, but today I’ll try it on the passenger side. There’s no easy way to tell if that works either, so i guess I’ll wait and see if I get another letter…..
if so, perhaps a ā€œboxā€ transponder will work better than a sticker?

So, i moved the ā€stickerā€ to the passenger side and permanently glued it on.
On a test run today, it appears it DOES work. I think it was the way i attached it with tape vs. being in the wrong place, but i did get it to register today

Either this is A WILD coincidence, or my EZ Pass transponder isn't working in the Mach-e. I drove to the dealer in my old car, EZ pass worked. Traded that on the the Mach-e and EZ pass didn't work on the way home. I had to run up to the dealer the next day and it didn't work. I even put it on a different part of the windshield on the way home.

I still need to try it with a different vehicle, but has anyone used EZ Pass yet?
I'm having the same issue. I've tried the transponder all over the inside front of the car. It won't work. Put the window down and held it outside as I went through the toll, GREEN light. There is something with the Mach-e interfering with the EZPass.

I received a letter from EZPass telling me that the transponder is not working. They are charging me via my license plate. They said that is fine, BUT I will not receive any discounts for frequent user since the discount is attached to the transponder.

Where did you put it on the windshield? It has to go in the black area to the sides and should work. If not, then maybe reach out to EZPass and see if they have a headlamp sticker transponder?

Works fine in the black dots area near rear view mirror!

When I put my transponder in the glove compartment of my Mach E, it works every single time.

I accidentally discovered a couple of weeks ago that it also works reliably from beneath the front passenger seat.

It always fails when placed on the dashboard or against the front windshield. I haven’t yet tried to stick it to the black-dots area mentioned in several prior posts. But it’s easier to just toss it into the glove box anyway.

The transponder is the big ol’ square form factor.

Is this a problem with Job 1 cars only? I don't even have my transponder mounted. I just lay it on my dash when I need to go through a toll and it works just fine.

Indiana, I've been having nothing but problems with my I-Pass and or E-ZPass reading no matter where I mount it. Actually just talked to a worker and the system is outdated. They can't even get parts for it anymore. It was supposed to get an upgrade but the toll road owner went bankrupt so it's been stuck in that and now the new owner is finally upgrading it but as with everything else they can't get their equipment in. So they said in the next few months it should be upgraded and be able to read E-ZPass I pass SunPass and all the other passes and front mount license plate passes which it currently can't do as well. At least that was valuable information because I have nothing but problems. Sometimes some booths work but most of the time none of them work. Or your take a ticket at 1 and the next one you go to the arm opens. It's like how did that open when it didn't open at the previous gate.

I have an Illinois I-Pass. I drove my Mach-E on Route 88 to Naperville last month with the transponder on my dash board. It did not work. The next time I used the same transponder on the dash of my Ford C-Max and it worked fine. So I tried the same transponder again in the Mach-e, but this time I properly mounted it on the windshield. It still did not work.. So I agree there seems to be something about the Mach-e that is interfering with the transponder.
I have to drive to Naperville again tomorrow and I think I will try holding the transponder out an open window to see if that works. In Illinois you are allowed up to five video tolls per month at regular charge. After five, you have to pay the full toll fee so hoping it will work.

Did you mount it on the windshield on top of the black dots located on either side of the rearview mirror?

The windshield on the Mach E is what causes interference. Unless the windshield is different on Job 2 cars which I dont think is the case. So performance should be the same the irrespective of Job 1 and Job2. Glad it works great for you but for most does not work unless it is in the black dots area next to rear view mirror.

That is very strange. I can't explain it, but I have used it multiple times with zero issues.

Do you have the ā€œsound shieldā€ front windshield?

Or what ever the name is? It’s on the glass in the lower right corner of the windshield.

Yep. Didn't know it was there so I checked:
