I would love to have one of these in my hands by the last week of March. But its probably not in the cards right now.
It sounds like we'll certainly have an announcement long before then, and I'm sure you'll have had the chance to order the adapter, but I'd say the odds are slim you'll have it on hand by then.

I mean the problem is in the testing. “Doing testing” is very different than “tested and it works”.

I don't think that's it. I think we've seen several "soon" or "very soon" comments and posts from Farley in which he did show the adapter and in which he appeared to be at a SC. I'm cool with all of that.

But if there's nothing new to say, why say anything? Giving dates and other relevant specifics is more useful.
Probably because it's a pretty big deal that most owners are excited about, and they're usually anxious to hear anything about it. Even if it's just confirmation of the timeframe already announced. Just like when many of us placed reservations for our cars a year before we knew they'd arrive.

True.

But do you really think an engineer is going to hand an adapter to the CEO without having tested that it works?

I think the 'doing some testing' is more of 'let me see it for myself'.... trust but verify.

Note the ambiguous use of the word "soon"...
Translating Farley into English:

Soon = next year

Very soon = next season

Working on = don’t expect anything for a while

Immediately= next month

Starting in the fall = starting in the winter but not finished until spring

Available OTA= not for your car, but maybe for next years model

We plan a fix= it’s broken, we don’t know how to fix it, we will tell you it is working as intended, better read the forums for a workaround.

Hey, who does this guy posting photos of the adapter think he is? Obviously he's in early access, but he has to be breaking NDA!

Right? RIGHT?

As long as it's here by Summer. I'm thinking a regional ballpark tour might be fun!

I don’t know about that. This adapter is made by Tesla. Testing? What’s that?
