Then what would the first 'M' in 'MME' stand for?
The English language is odd.

White Chocolate isn’t chocolate
Strawberries aren’t berries
Green beans aren’t beans

Do you tell people you drive a Mustang or do you have to explain a little further….. “electric Mustang” or “Mustang Mach E?”

I’m betting it’s the latter.

If you just say “Mustang,” pretty much everyone knows what that car is.

If you then point at your car and say “Mustang,” you will get some confused looks and a lot of….. “well, technically?”

They also said it’s not, thus this thread.
No. Ford did not.

An article quoting Farley did. That quote could have been taken well out of context of the entire interview. I've heard Farley say previously that they are not going to make an all-electric version of the S650 Mustang series.

It’s a direct quote. Multiple quotes on the subject in fact.

So now we are starting conspiracy theories that he didn’t actually say that?

For now, it’s safer to assume they didn’t lie in the article.

Farley Says It's Not a Mustang

What does he know ?
The article said he joined Ford in 2020, so the Mach-e was already for production. So "HE" will never...

As one with a marketing degree, I thought the name was a good move. What age group is the target market? What are people purchasing? SUVs and Trucks. Since the original mustang was an inexpensive sports car, young people could afford it. The EVs are pricier and require the target market to have some $$. Most likely older folks whose kids have moved out, and those in their second childhood who always wanted one but never bought one. And lastly, when you think of a fast sporty Ford vehicle, what comes to mind? Mustang!

Were you trying to respond to a post other than the one you quoted?? This seems like a completely unrelated set of comments and questions.

@Ford Motor Company I'm so confused. Is this interview legit? Did CEO Jim Farley seriously say this?

I bought the car because I've wanted a Mustang GT since before I could drive. If Jim is saying the Mustang Mach-E isn't a Mustang, then what did you guys sell me?

“And it was actually Jim Farley who suggested ‘What if we made it - a Mustang?’”

My own thoughts - Ford is focused now on an “affordable” EV and a new electric truck beyond the F-150 Lightning. Supposedly, they’re losing money on every Mustang Mach-E they sell. I think the vehicle will soldier on for a few more years, with continued decontenting (in the same of cost reductions) and some sticker/appearance packages (like Rally) to keep the appearance of “freshness” , but it’s clear that, in Ford’s eyes; the vehicle is no longer on life-support. It’s been moved into hospice and will ultimately be joining other stories badges like the Mustang II, the 2000s T-Bird, the Escort, and the entire Mercury line.
I do salute Ford for at least trying and producing the Mustang Mach-E. It’s a shame it’s just not a business success.

That’s not a REAL Explorer. It’s just some silly euro-estate that Ford slapped the Explorer badge on for marketing purposes ???

Let's face it. The only reason the original Mustang was called a Mustang instead of being an updated Falcon was marketing.
Lee Iacocca just entered the room and would like a word ?

You may well be right about the Company's change in focus, I know very little about their plans.

But it sounds like a recipe for disaster. An "affordable" car has to be, well, affordable. If you can't manufacture it cheaply, you will lose your shirt. Ford already loses a fortune on the higher-priced Mach-E. They'd risk losing a much larger fortune on an affordable model.

I already have my electric Mustang, so I don't worry much about what Ford does next.

Sales are up YOY, if the Mustang Mach E had to be priced $20k higher than it’s worth and selling over MSRP to be profitable, that was a bad decision from the start.

But amazingly you drop the price down back to the 21 level and units start moving again.

And a Bronco "Sport" isn't a real Bronco.

Thes opinions and $2.95 will get you a "Tall" coffee at Starbucks -- which is their shortest coffee.

Sure is a lot of gloom and doom in Mach-E land.

They are still building them.
And just a few months ago the Mach-E production line included newly designed components. Software continues to be developed/refined.

Declaring it a patient on life support is amazingly pessimistic.

Of course progress will march on. It's inevitable. But the Mach-E isn't just Vapor. And Ford has as much incentive to support it as any other vehicle it produces. Maybe more than most.

Not sure how I would ever bring myself to care what a corporation thinks, let alone a CEO. Just my opinion lol
